Hope he isn't holding this against the new staff. I know its about relationships but if he grew up a UT fan and CBJ has made it abundantly clear Bell is wanted and needed I would hope he wears orange.

The recent coaching change has tremendously helped us with Bell. CBJ has made it a priority to land Bell as he would be a difference maker here from day 1. The thing that troubles me the most is that have we made up enough ground to change Bell's mind. From what I am hearing we have and CBJ has been a major part of that with him and his family. Also what makes it more sickening is that this is not the only recruit that we neglected their were many more under the prior regime. I think that the Bellamy kid was another example. He was told that he would be offered at the O & W game but when he came here for the game no offer was made and he left kind of upset. DD also dropped the ball with Christian Morris and EJ Levenberry. Also he has upset alot of coaches around the state as well as nationally especially in the FL area. It has been a sad state of affairs the past 3 yrs and what I have said has not even scratched the surface.

Yes, alot of things that has come out since Dooley's departure are very alarming. I think CBJ gets it, at least I hope he does. Alot of us thought Dooley was going to be a great recruiter when he pulled D Rogers. The staff probably deserves the credit there, not Dooley.

They just said on 104.5 the zone that Vonn Bell was playing call of duty throughout the entirety of the staff's last in home visit and that the staff could only really talk to his family bc of this. He said that he would get to know the staff on his next visit to UT. WTF? That is ridiculous and immature as hell.

And it was Paul Kuharski and the other guys who were talking about it, not some random caller.

He's a kid, they are immature at times.

Is it really such a bad thing Butch spent most of his time talking to the parents/family?

im no video gamer so i don't get the importance - but if there was a school i was planning on going to i would get up from the game and talk to the coach

i don't know how this is a good sign unless video games are just way more important than i am able to imagine

Here are my thoughts on it.

1.) He is either very shy, and didn't feel comfortable opening up with all the defensive coaches there.

2.) He already knows where he is going and doesn't give a flying *****.

Even if this were true, how would that info leak??? I can't see parents or coaches divulging that info and it doesn't sound like it came from Bell.

Sounds like a butthurt fan.

Wasn't this the visit where the entire defensive staff came along? So, he stiffed the entire staff, eh, and his parents were there? And then the staff told someone and it took a few days for some radio guys in Nashville to break the news?

I might be wrong, but I have to call BS on this...

No its not bad that they spent time with the family. But I would think if Bell had as much nternet in us as we thought then he would at least want to sit down and talk with the coaches during their one and only in home visit.

I don't think it's that big of a deal, IMO. The staff was there hanging out for over 3 hours, it's not like it was a sit down meeting for 20 minutes. The COACHES PLAYED TOO.

Quotes from the VQ article the other day...

For Bell, the visit was more for his family while he said he didn't spend too much time with the Vols' coaching staff.

"It was good. It wasn't all about football. They came downstairs and played the game with me, I was playing Call of Duty most of the time when they were there. I had my brother there and we were just playing the game," Bell said. "So, it really wasn't about football, they talked about it to my mom a little bit, but mostly they talked to her about other things and I guess we'll talk football when we get down there this weekend."

Bell said the coaches were with his mom most of the time and she was impressed by what Jones and his staff had to say.

"She said she was really impressed with how coach Jones handled himself," Bell offered. "It was real big they usually come and talk about football, but it's all about building a relationship and being comfortable with them and it's all about being a family. That's one thing I'm looking for throughout this whole thing is a family atmosphere."

Oh for Gods sake let the coaches do what they do and chill

1. I guarantee he was listening to everything going on.

2. He's probably had so many of these in-home visits that he's tired of them.

3. He doesn't get to ask the questions he wants to ask during an in-home with the coaches. That is time for mom and dad to get their questions answered.

4. He'll get his time with the players and coaches this week end.

Have you read any of the quotes saying that one of the visiting coaches was actually playing the game with him?

That turns it from the negative you reported to a very good positive.

Thanks Ron - that full context certainly doesnt make it sound near as bad - in fact, doesnt sound bad at all after reading that quote
