Also, didn't this kid use to attend chattanooga central? My wifes dad was the quarterback club prez for them for a long time and I seem to remember him talking about this kid when he was a sophomore.

Yes he was at Central and supposedly was run off when Coach Allen took over.

Who wrote the article about Bell in the Chattanooga paper today? Seems very slanted. If this guy is a DB it really doesn't make sense since Joseph is still at Tennessee and the recruiting coordinator. Not good PR.

Nevermind he is a Chattanooga St. grad. I'm not being negative, but this article is bad PR. Our coaches have been extremely busy but they need to pick up the phone and contact this kid IMMEDIATELY.

While I have no major complaints right now, this is a head scratcher by Dooley and Co. Pick-up the phone and call the kid, takes less than 5mins.

Ahh, a lot of people didn't like that coach I believe. My father in law resigned as the qb club president a few years back, he didn't like the way the program was being run and some of the politicking that was taking place. He said something about whoever the new coach was last year was already wanting to leave or people were wanting him gone. He stays out of it now, hardly goes to their games anymore.

Very possible we do not know the whole story. Maybe CDD sees no reason to call the school and tell the coach they are not interested. Maybe the DVD highlights the coach sent CDD kind of put them off when they saw the bank account number and the breakdown of payment needed to get the kid to sign? Maybe they have honestly just been busy with closing out the 2012 class. Calling a kid to let him know that we are in on 5-10 other DBs they like better but may call him back in December if we have a spot open may just not be a call CDD feels the need to make the day after NSD.

CDD could very well call and offer him tonight. Who knows?

Seems like we had a similar conversation about the Holsley(?) kid last year. Was sweating UT badly, when we finally offered it was simply another feather in his cap. Hopefully Vonn is all Vol and if the call comes he will be VFL.

Dooley and company need to wrap this kid up fast. He is a VOL at heart grew up in Tennessee and is practically still in Chattanooga

Another option to consider. Maybe CDD knows Bell will commit on the spot and does not want that to happen. Maybe he does want to give Ramsey or Wiggins more time before he starts adding DBs to the 2013 class. CDD may feel he could wait on Bell a little while and still get him to commit with an offer later in the year. Sure he could be wrong and Bell get pis_ed and go elsewhere. Maybe CDD feels it is worth the risk. JMO

This is different IMO. I'm pretty sure Vonn grew up in Tennessee and just recently moved to Georgia. I've heard for years that he was a genuine Tennessee fan. From all I've heard he'll be a Vol if they start recruiting him soon.

Other than Kiffin's one summer as HC, Tennessee's recruiting classes would suck if they only offered kids that attended their camp.

I think they should offer Bell, but this is what the coaches are looking at and studying right now.

Bell is the only "true" safety out of that list. Most of those guys project much better as cornerbacks in college. And a guy like Elder will almost assuredly end up on the offensive side of the ball IMO.

I bet they end up with around 25 next year. No way there wont be attrition of less than 10 guys from now until next January IMO. You'll have a few go pro early and surely a handful of the marginal takes over the last few years will move on. Attrition is always greater than projected.

I agree. I think safety is going to be a big need in next year's class. Most of the guys names being thrown around are more corner prospects than they are safety. They need depth at safety in a big way, especially when injuries seem to be a concern with a guy like Randolph.
