#13 LSU(6-2) @ #8 Alabama (7-1)

I'll just take it that you don't believe certain teams get the benifit over other teams with the calls and no calls and leave it at that. I will also agree to disagree!
You're saying it's rigged, right? Or try to explain away "certain teams get the benefit over other teams with the calls and no calls"

That's not rigged?

I can't say always equal because the TN vs Bama game was an outlier. It falls to "mostly equal" and not equal.

20%, for me, is pretty much no chance in a football game. You may take those kinds of bets but I don't. It's an L for Bama.

I'll be EXTREMELY surprised if Bama wins.

I like you turning to semantics, however, but you know what I meant from the start:

1. The refs in the SEC don't commonly cheat in games for one team over another.

2. Alabama isn't very likely to go to the CFP this year.
“You know what I meant from the start.”

No, I didn’t. This is why I asked you repeatedly to specifically explain what you meant. Once again, you are telling me what you think I believe, and you are wrong. You said that I believed the SEC refs are cheating for Alabama, and I never said that. Now you are claiming to know what is going on inside my head. Can you tell me what number I am thinking of right now?

You have a very difficult time directly stating what you are trying to say, and an even more difficult time answering questions in a coherent manner. I advise you to listen to or read questions carefully before answering. Make sure you’re actually answering the question asked, because several times I asked you a question and you answered a question I did not ask.

See you like to put words in others mouths, I never said the **** was rigged per say. I said some teams especially at home get favored by the calls that the refs make or don't make!

Why are they getting those calls, then, if not to influence the outcome of the game?

"Influence the outcome" = rigged

I'm saying the refs just suck.

You've been done. You said what you said.

I'll be right here after the SEC championship game when GA is heading to the playoff and Little Nicky is off to FL to go fishing.
We agree the refs suck. If you can't see some teams get the benifit more then you're just blind and stupid! First time I'm ever gona hit the ignore button.

Oh, yes. It is very obvious that you lack the reading comprehension skills to distinguish between different people’s messages on here.
You guys say the same crap:

The refs favor XXX team regularly.

They normally don't. It's uncommon for it to be as bad as it was in the TN vs Bama game.

If you believe it is common and the refs are screwing teams out of wins regularly, you're watching SEC football as nothing more than like watching a fixed sport of any kind.

That's fine, but why still complain about the refs if that's how you see it? If you aren't entertained, spend your time elsewhere.

Show me where I said that. I’ll wait.

That's what I said, and I still believe they do.
Why do you watch SEC football then?

If I believed the games were played on an unlevel basis, I'd not enjoy it very much. Maybe you do, but why watch a sport that's played where one team or group of teams gets all the breaks in a game that should be called reasonably fair?

So what do you think about the refs?
You think they suck like I do?

No problem. Have a wonderful life. We agree.

So you cannot show me where I said the refs favor a particular team, despite accusing me of saying that multiple times.

I have already told you what I think of the refs (post #334). I was very specific in my explanation. It does not surprise me in the least that you have already forgotten our conversation from only about an hour ago.

At this point I think this dude is just trolling. I put him on ignore, suggest the same.

Thanks for pointing out your excellent post about the refs.

We do agree. Refs are human. They screw up. I believe it evens out over time like most things with humans with decent intentions. I'm not of the opinion the refs are routinely biased.

I agree the SEC does the game a disservice by not employing better, professional refs and paying them to train and simply officiate better than they do. I've also said I believe they won't do that because it's not in the SEC's best interest to look like a pro football league.

So I think we're stuck, the SEC is stuck, the NCAA is stuck with refs that are poorly trained and poorly paid. It DOES make the product, the games, less enjoyable but we keep watching and they keep making money.

There's absolutely no reason in it for the NCAA or SEC to improve the quality of the officiating.

Do you realize this is the 2nd time you have responded to that specific post of mine about the refs?

I explained why I pointed out the post when I pointed out the post. This goes back to your lack of reading comprehension.
I think we basically agree. The refs suck.

I'm unsure if you feel something can be done about it. I pointed out the money is there to pay the refs similar to the rate paid by the NFL and provide better training but I don't think that's going to happen because the NCAA and SEC can't really take the chance of looking more like the NFL than they already do.

Do you see a solution to the poorly trained and poorly paid ref situation?

Train them better - specifically, better understanding of the rules, because some rules (like what counts as targeting) seem to change every week

Reward good refs with higher paying bowl games

Hold them accountable publicly - their mistakes should be stated publicly, they should have to answer questions from the press after every game, they should be suspended for multiple poor or egregious calls

These are just a couple of ideas off the top of my head.

Nice ideas, I think. Certainly training them better would be great and having them paid well enough to make it worthwhile to do a pro level job would be ideal.

I'm unsure the funding is there currently for staffing an impartial "review board" for refs but it would be a great idea if the NCAA or SEC would fund it. As long as the product the SEC is selling continues to increase in value regardless of the lousy refs, I'm doubtful they'll spend money to improve the product. It would obviously be good for the sport if the poor refs were weeded out, but I'm just unsure the NCAA or SEC is financially motivated to do that.

It's unlikely any kind of organization of refs in college or the pros is going to voluntarily submit to public accountability and having their mistakes pointed out in a press conference. I see no precedent for that in any league but you might know of sport where the refs do press conferences.

I think there's a private organization which ranks the calls by home plate umps in pro baseball but I am unsure MLB uses those results in any way. I assume balls and strikes will go the way of in or out in tennis within a few years anyway. I don't think football lends itself to as much technological replacement as baseball and tennis, but it might in the future somehow.

The overall problem is the unwillingness by the NCAA and SEC to part with the money to improve the training and wages and accountability and quality of refs. As a business, their product isn't losing value and has no real competition in the amateur athletics market, so there's little economic pressure for them to improve the product.
