I love thus guy now.He went to Babylon and knew inside God didnt want his son to be tempted by what USC really represents now.The hype quote is telling.More hot sauce anyone.He knew he didnt need to be in Hollywood as a follower of God.Still cool he picked us over everyone else other than USC

Sorry it is a random thought but...... I'm curious of the statistic that tells the number of boy babys born (alliteration, sweet) with the name Lane in Tennessee for the last 5 years or so. I wonder if there was any decline. That would be funny if there has been!

If that happens, then Kiffin will have more recruits jump off his train. You don't drop someone because he got injured over a year before he would even show up on your campus. If he does that, then DD would be an idiot to not use it against him with Jalen Ramsey...telling him that this is truly who you committed to...someone that will drop you at the drop of a dime and move on without blinking. And Paul Harris wouldn't jump ship now if that happened either. He seems like a smart kid.

Kiffin won't drop Massington now, but I would not be at all surprised if toward the end of the year he invites him to grayshirt "for the good of the team" so USC can get a full dose of able bodied recruits in this class. That way, he will catch Massington with a short amount of time to decide and with few good options so he will be more likely to go along with it. Next year Kiffy and his medical staff can evaluate how well he is recovering, both physically and mentally -- but what Kiffin will not tell Massington is that if he is not fully recovered by then, he will not be retained.

Hopefully, this is not what Kiffin will do with Massington. It would be a sleazy thing to treat a recruit, but I do not expect a lot of "class" out of Kiffin. His history is that he will do what is best for Kiffin.

This is on page 43 of Saban's Coaching Handbook. Kiffin has done a lot of herd culling in his short history as a head coach, so I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see it play out this way.

Man I'm excited about this guy. I know he's in the top 250 but I still feel like he's underrated. Wanted this guy just as bad as any receiver out there. Such a huge pick up and great recruiting job by the coaches.

Not sure 7-5 during the season keeps him safe. No way we should lose more than 4 during the season

I doubt USC drops Massington because of his injury, that would be a huge pr hit. USC has a wr committed that has academic issues, not sure of his name. If they feel this kid will not make it in, look for them to pursue Harris hard. Harris wanted to commit to them a couple weeks ago but was basically told they may not have room. Harris says all the right things and really likes Tennessee, but his dream school is USC. If the opportunity presents itself, dont be shocked if he heads out west.

This was my fear too. He has said all the right things, but everything that has lead up to his commitment suggests that we are definitely his 2nd choice. Seems like the consensus is that he wanted USC, but the feeling was not mutual due to number crunch. He chose the next best option and tried to spin it as if it were his choice when in reality, the choice was made for him.

Hope he finds UT to be an excellent alternative, and USC doesn't find an extra scholarship.

says he's a real hard worker, mature beyond his years, faith made the decision for him.

here's a couple nuggets:

“Physically, he has the size and he's gifted with hands,” Pinkney said. “He has a lot of range and he's very flexible. He's very capable of making the difficult catch.

Hard work has led to that. Harris attends summer school every day from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., then goes to football training before night school from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Why? So he can graduate in December and enroll at Tennessee in January.

“... Some would say it would take a leap of faith to sign with a program still rebuilding while other football powerhouses are waiting in the wings. Harris doesn't look at it that way at all.

“It was very close,” he said of the decision to pick UT over USC, “but that's when the faith came in. I just prayed and asked God 'What do I need to do for me to succeed?' and the decision came down to Tennessee.”
