Is it a good thing to have the number of kickers on scholarship that we have?
1.)Palardy-appeared to be a top prospect, but hasn't turned out great
2.)Brodus-was a walk-on but given a scholarship recently
3.)George Bullock-broke his leg and was redshirted
potentially this kid could be a 4th kicker on scholarship. Is this wise?
I probably wouldn't hit many 30 yarders,but I wouldn't miss any extra points.
An extra point is 20 yards...not too much difference really. Seriously, those that have never attempted to kick, really should. Not trying to make excuses, because a kicker with Palardy's talent should not be missing too many PAT's. Just saying, it's not NEARLY as easy as most people think.

Actually it is...for a kicker. If you sort by percentages you have 38 kickers last year that didn't miss a single extra point. That's over 25% of the total kickers. Palardy was 90th out of 103 kickers ranked in percentages at 92.5%.
That's for actual kickers. I meant for people that have not ever tried it before. And to the other guy, yeah, I can make most extra points too, probably a good 80% at least, I'd say. But how many of them would be blocked with a line in front of me? Almost all of them. You can say it's easy all you want, but fact of the matter is, there's not many people in this world that can kick like these guys do...even Palardy. Those that think it's easy for anybody to do probably think they can run a 4.4 40 too.
If you have kicked about 5000 extra points and field goals throughout your life between practice and games, you shouldn't miss an extra point unless it is blocked. These guys get to play major college football and are supposed to be the best of the best. Very frustrating to watch. Just because I can't dunk a basketball doesn't mean I can't complain when a 6'8" college basketball player botches one.

You're missing my point. I agree with you that kickers at the D-1 level and above should make extra points. Palardy has sucked for what his talent level should be. I'm just saying about other people. We're basically in agreement here... By the way, I'm sure Palardy has kicked WAY more than 5000 extra points and field goals in his lifetime.
