'13 TN DE Jason Carr (UT signee)

IMO his size isn't what makes him a tweener, but his athleticism is. He could probably excel at either position because his burst on the edge and his size in the middle.

Ends up at DT by Sophomore year though, because if he adds anymore weight from the S&C program then he would be a perfect fit at DT.

Agreed. Can be very good in any position(depending on the situation) along the defensive line.

Just think if we can land these guys, what our line could potentially look like. Bellamy, Lawson, Miller, and Carr :loco:

Would be awesome. I'm ready for a disruptive DL that can get in the backfield and get after the quarterback.

Also similar to Jacques Smith situation...hopefully we hang on.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Jacques come right out and say. "I did not like it at Alabama."?

Smith Commited to UT on the signing day the year before his. He was our First Commit.

I don't remember all of his recruiting stuff, since I figured he was a VFL as a Junior in HS.

I still LOVE that he is a VOL.

He has been Jacked around with all of the coaching/position/scheme changes...... He is STILL a VFL.

Love this guy!

@Sabanocchio: Jason Carr says he is not visiting Ole Miss now. Says he's ready for it to be over with and doesn't want to pass on the opp. to play at UT.

Nice!!

"I'm ready for signing day," the 6-6, 280 pound Carr said. "I'm done with visits. I was going to visit Ole Miss, but I'm not going to visit anywhere this weekend. I'm ready for it to be over with."

"Coach Jones was by the school this morning and we visited," Carr said. "He and coach Stripling are coming to the house tonight. I'm still committed to Tennessee. Alabama is still recruiting me hard.

"I don't want to pass on the opportunity to play at Tennessee. Alabama is obviously a very good program with good coaches and both schools have equal facilities. Like I said I'm just ready for it be over with. "

Huge news! I really think CBJ told Carr to go to Bama and stay in Bell's ear about UT. Would be very smart, if he did.

Talked to a couple people close to Carr situation tonight and the word is he has cancelled his official visit to Ole Miss and could be close to shutting it down and giving a firm commitment to Tennessee. Alabama still involved at this point but its possible that after tonight they won't be. Butch Jones is having his in-home tonight.

The reason for radio silence since visit was he was torn between UT and UA and wanted some space to figure things out. Carr had great visit to Alabama and like the thought of playing for UA but has people close to him who want him in Knoxville. His brother being one of them. So understandable.

Just an FYI and we will keep you posted on more becomes available.

--Bama's site.

A lot of evaluators think 6'6 is too tall for a tackle to get leverage so even though he might have the frame to carry tackle weight his height might be more of a fit at DE. To be a DT at that size has been done by a small number of guys who were extra, extra special. Many of the experts said John Henderson was too tall and he turned out OK. I am not saying that Jason in another John Henderson just comparing body types.

So why not take a shot on Crayton? Wish we would...

Would be a great idea. It could be that he pretended to keep his recruitment open so he could visit Bama and keep an eye on Bell, and once the visit was over he shut down his recruitment because he had no intention on visiting anywhere else in the first place.
