'13 TN DE Jason Carr (UT signee)

"I'm ready for signing day," the 6-6, 280 pound Carr said. "I'm done with visits. I was going to visit Ole Miss, but I'm not going to visit anywhere this weekend. I'm ready for it to be over with."

"Coach Jones was by the school this morning and we visited," Carr said. "He and coach Stripling are coming to the house tonight. I'm still committed to Tennessee. Alabama is still recruiting me hard.

"I don't want to pass on the opportunity to play at Tennessee. Alabama is obviously a very good program with good coaches and both schools have equal facilities. Like I said I'm just ready for it be over with. "

Carr's head coach, Devin Rutherford, told Andrew Bone of TideSports.com, that Nick Saban has already had his in-home visit. So, Jones will have the last head coach visit with Carr.

Let's shut this thing down, CBJ.

Hope it holds true through NSD. Carr is a huge part of this class. I think the kid will be a star by the time he leaves Knoxville. CBJ doing work!!

That sounds like we're gonna hang on to him. If he's ready for it to be other with, then he will most likely just remain committed to us, at least that's the logical conclusion of that statement.

Like that sound of that. I hope that he is all wrapped up and ready to suit up for UT.

I don’t think that was understood by people as being a genuine advantage Bama had over everybody else. It was like the advantage UT had back in the 90s. That Tunderdome of Power, along with the academic and VFL social support network really makes for a compelling pitch to prospective student-athletes.

How the hell is 6'6" 270 freakin pounds a tweener?

Maybe the definition of "tweener" has changed.

A lot of evaluators think 6'6 is too tall for a tackle to get leverage so even though he might have the frame to carry tackle weight his height might be more of a fit at DE. To be a DT at that size has been done by a small number of guys who were extra, extra special. Many of the experts said John Henderson was too tall and he turned out OK. I am not saying that Jason in another John Henderson just comparing body types.

IMO his size isn't what makes him a tweener, but his athleticism is. He could probably excel at either position because his burst on the edge and his size in the middle.

Ends up at DT by Sophomore year though, because if he adds anymore weight from the S&C program then he would be a perfect fit at DT.

This guy had a successful run at Bama and he's 6'4".

Yes, I know. All im saying is that his size for a kid in HS isn't exactly what I would call a tweener. I think he will be fine at DE. If he beefs up a lot in the s&c program then he could eventually slide inside. Now that I think ab it, he could be very useful along the entire defensive line. Natural DE, slide inside on passing situations and place a smaller, quicker lineman on the outside.
