'13 TN OT Christian Morris

Whatever freshmen O-line guys we get in this class, we need to get them some playing time when the starters get rested. Not sure why he thinks he would redshirt.

Because the coaches here told him he would redshirt. We have several guys on campus already to back up the starters. The OL guys we take this year should be planning to redshirt.

The coaches told him he would. We have our starters in place (Tiny, Stone, Fulton, James) with the LG spot up for grabs (My guess Jackson). That will leave us with Bullard, Pair, Kerbyson, Posey, and Crowder as our back ups. We can afford to redshirt any OL guys we sign this year.

Every time someone asks Hubbs about this kid he keeps saying that the staff is evaluating him.

He said earlier today that Morris didn't look good at our camp over the summer which is why Pittman didn't pursue him. Hubbs added that most of the schools that have offered him have only seen his film but the schools that have seen him at camp have not offered him.

To me that's weird b/c Morris was one of the top OL at the Opening & his reviews were pretty good from the AA practices & game.

I just can't even fathom how this kid isn't a take when compared to what is/was left on our OL board...

Morris, Cody Clay or Chongo Kabongo? Is that really even a choice?

Is he just nervous and not performing that well at the camps? I would say that would be the logical thing unless something else is wrong..

UCLA may promise early PT as a true FR but I seriously doubt they can deliver it. UCLA's OL is very young. They signed (5) guys on the OL in 2012. They have (7) guys for the OL committed in this class. I would think with UT losing most of our starting OL next year to the draft, we would offer PT sooner.

Good points. And it's not as if UCLA is some slouch of a team. Their o-line was pretty darn good last year. To think dude would just de-throne one of their starters might be a stretch and flat out dishonest on Mora's part. Hell, even Tiny didn't start as a freshman. But who knows. I do remember how bad our o-line was when Dooley arrived. It's rather refreshing to think we would even have to redshirt blue chip lineman compared to where we were a couple years ago.

We could always use some Big Uglies! Especially from TN. Get em Coach Butch!

Bump. We really need this kid in my opinion. Instate talent would be good for the talent in memphis area the next coming years. Might also help make sure that Jason Carr doesn't decommit. He seems like a great guy who is a vols fan. Seems CDD might have screwed us on him though

the vols have a good amount of momentum with morris and he certainly feels wanted by this staff. He spurned a visit to washington this weekend to come to tennessee. We'll be waiting to hear what he says coming out of the weekend.

I have a great feeling about Morris, I think he will be a Vol. I even think we may turn him on his visit, just a feelin. Kondolo would be a nice pickup as well. GO VOLS!

:)

Give me Morris & Kondolo & I'll be very happy about our OL class.

Morris, Kendrick, Sanders, Kondolo, and Wiesman is a solid O-Line class, especially since no more than one of these guys will HAVE to see playing time barring injury.

Then if we can hold on to Skipper it would get even better.

Christian tweeted this earlier this week:

@iAM_ChrisMorris: No official to Washington important games coming up for the next 3 weeks.

Sounds like his important game this week is a University of Tennessee official visit lol

I'm really anxious to see how this weekend goes. I have a sense that CBJ will be very good at hosting recruits and selling the university. Would be enormous to get a few big time commits, including Morris.

Hope this turns out well - we need 3 of the best big O-linemen from the state each year and every year if we are to return to pounding the rock. It just will not happen any other way. We have to win the recruiting battles in our own state and fill the other needs from elsewhere. A good place to get the others are from places like Ohio, like Wiesman. They know what Tennessee football is supposed to be and they are attracted to the SEC. They are tough, hard nosed guys that fit in well.

C'mon over Christian.

Will Sanders be on campus this weekend? When Christian visited last summer, he and Austin hit it off pretty well.
