Agreed if you are referring to OL. Like Mark said you don't tell skill position players they are certain to RS with the possible exception of QBs

I fully expect our staff to push even harder for Morris after Clay's decision. We need another potential OT, especially considering Skipper isn't solid.

I agree. Our staff made a push for him in San Antonio. He's an in-state guy at a position of need, so I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be a take at this point. I think the staff wants him.

Is clay even that good? I saw he is only a 2 star? Is butch jones confused and forgot that he is at Tennessee now? We usually don't take 2 stars unless we have too. And say we get Morris and Clay, that means we will have Morris, Clay, Sanders, Skipper, Kendrick, and Wiesman.. Isn't that a little much?

I agree with Shelbyvillevol. In an ideal scenario, we would rarely have a freshman OL start unless they are a special talent and unusually strong. OL is perhaps the most difficult position to play as a freshman for a variety of reasons. It has more calls and is far more complicated than many realize and very few 18 year olds are physically ready to compete. Especially at the SEC level.

Morris was interviewed this afternoon on 730 AM in Memphis, I think it's Yahoo Sports. He stated that he definitely plans to officially visit UTK and when coaxed into naming a #2 choice right now he said UT. He stated that CBJ was recruiting him at Cincinnati and has continued to since moving to the Vols. He stated that we have one of the best OL's in the country right now and he'd have to redshirt whereas UCLA was offering him immediate playing time. It seemed to me like he liked CBJ quite a bit, but there was something about his recruitment that he wouldn't get into on the air or he didn't want to talk about for some reason. I am curious what that was all about, but it must not be bad being that he is still definitely planning on visiting UT.

I thought it was funny that when asked if Memphis had been in contact, he said no. He said they talked to him at some event at his school or something and he was told that he always had a place back home if he didn't like something at UCLA. You'd think Memphis would have been all over this guy to stay home from day 1, but evidently the coach didn't want to pour recruiting resources into a kid that was already committed elsewhere.

He also mentioned changing his mind about visiting Oklahoma, something about negative recruiting turning him off. He mentioned that he loved his visit to Ole Miss. I think he has siblings at OM and another at AR currently.

I don't normally do these little recruiting updates, so sorry it's so long. Didn't see where anyone else had mentioned this yet, so thought I'd share.

UCLA may promise early PT as a true FR but I seriously doubt they can deliver it. UCLA's OL is very young. They signed (5) guys on the OL in 2012. They have (7) guys for the OL committed in this class. I would think with UT losing most of our starting OL next year to the draft, we would offer PT sooner.

Whatever freshmen O-line guys we get in this class, we need to get them some playing time when the starters get rested. Not sure why he thinks he would redshirt.
