'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

+1

We need at least 1 of those 3. If we get just 1, I would look for a couple late RB visits to pop up from a Turner, Dayes, or similar RB. Ideally we take at least 2 in this class.

I think it's time we realize that 1 elite RB is the best we can hope for. I am fine with that as RB isn't my biggest concern.

i am willing to give up all stud rbs for bellamy, lawson, bell

I'm NOT!!

If we do not get a top RB in here and get the running game back to what Tennessee is supposed to look like we will continue to struggle recruiting RBs.

Lining up WRs and LBs in the backfield is not a good way to attract RB talent IMO.

we can get better rbs next year. bell and lawson are elite. and they play on defense. something we have royally sucked at the past few years.

Can we? That's the problem IMO. People keep saying we can "get one next year". People have been saying that for 3 years!! RBs are just not buying into what UT coaches are selling at RB.

It's going to look pretty bad when CBJ has to subcontract Lane Kiffen a part time job at Tennessee so that we can land a top RB. :mf_surrender:

If you have no condience we can get one next year why do you think we can land one this year then? And I am sick of the Lane Kiffin garbage. The two so called "top RB's" he landed did no more than Lane or Neal so that is a worthless arguement.

We struggle running and stopping the run...recruiting gaps on D Line and RB the last 3 years (excluding couch and mccullers) has been a drag at the high school level. Need some talent in both places.

I think Brown and Oku are looking pretty good. JMO

I think Dooley was trying to hard to "win now" so he went after guys who could start soon.

Really?

I think you are underestimating the rb's that we have now. I would like another stud too but we'll be fine this year w/o any contribution from a freshman rb.

So a guy who has been on the job for less than two months with only that amount of time to develop relationships with these RB's is at fault for what has happened for the last 3 years?

What he is "selling" is hardly the issue considering who is listening. If the sales pitch weren't attractive they would not have listened or considered UT in the first place.

Yeah because Kiffin really did an ace job for UT, didn't he? The one class he signed fell apart. He "stole" a QB from SDSU who never won a single big game in his UT career after whiffing on a half dozen other QB's.... including a guy who couldn't win the starting job at BYU and another who sits the bench for ND.

Brown was a head case with an ego too big for any college program. Oku.... Oku? I am not even sure where he disappeared to but he hasn't made any noise that I've heard.

I don't know who he might have added in '10... but Dooley did have to scramble to find someone interested enough to listen.

In every conceivable respect, Kiffin failed at UT. He ran off players that could have contributed. He did little to actually improve the quality and depth of UT's roster when you consider the attrition among his signees.

Bottom line.... no thanks to hiring Kiffin with the idea of improving any part of the roster.

Kiffin was a bum and I never liked him at all. I was speaking about his ability to recruit the RB position. He could recruit and has proven that since leaving UT. His signing both Brown and Oku in the same class spoke to that fact. Brown was the starter for the Eagles. Oku rushed for 1100 yards and 16TDs this year. I have no doubt he will be drafted in the upcoming draft. Both guys are doing well.

Brown did nothing for UT except stir up trouble. At KSU, Snyder wouldn't put up with his BS either. I could care less what the prima donna does in the pros.

I had to search Oku.... he gained a 1000 yds for Ark St averaging 4.4 ypc. He was NEVER going to be the solution for UT.
