'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Poster on VQ asked...why are Michigan mods confident about Green to Michigan? Is it just b/c of him naming Michigan his leader a month ago? It appears he has told both sides what they want to hear. Any other reasons why they seem so confident?

I think that's part of it. We also don't know who they are talking too as well. We have people we trust that tell us Tennessee is still in the thick of it and he's not telling anyone until Saturday. He's doing a great job at not giving this one away in my opinion.

Green has had a relationship with Jay Graham for 3 years now, I'm pretty sure he knows his name isn't Todd.

My guess is Farrell had a brain fart thinking of Todd Grantham.

My guess is that Farrell is just a clueless dumbass, and I have years of evidence to back this up :)

Green will pick UT... Book it .
My wife dropped some skittles on the floor and my dog ate the Green one and orange one but wouldn't eat the blue one. TIFWIW

This is my breakdown regarding this recruit:

What information I am looking at:
-His obvious favoritism towards Michigan through social media and provided by journalists
-His in-home visits last night; how the Tennessee coaches’ presentation was much longer
-The attractiveness of playing in the SEC compared to B1G (I might be slightly biased)
Destination Michigan:
-He named Michigan as his favor a month ago and said he knows where he is going shortly afterwards
-“Journalists” for major recruiting websites are pulling the trigger and naming Michigan as his destination
-The length of his relationship with the head coaches

Destination Tennessee:
-The coaches feel good about it.
-Our visit was much longer
-Auburn being a player in his recruiting is a good. This shows that he is interested in the SEC
- The fact that he is so concealed about his decision as reported gives me hope. In my opinion, this kid, like any other recruit wants to shock the crowd and get as much attention as he can. Naming Michigan as a leader a month before his announcement for obvious reasons like his relationship with the head coach seems too cliché. Why would he name Michigan as my leader for those reasons if he really wants this to be a surprise? I would have waited for a month until my announcement, if that were the case. This is why I believe he named the obvious leader as his favorite and chooses someone else during his announcement.

Conclusion:
My reasons are really biased for Tennessee and believe I would see this case differently if I was on Michigan’s side, but I think there is still hope.

at one point he referred to MU coaches as MY position coach, and MY recruiting coach

^thats some info you need to consider

IMO, UT will be more stable in the next 3-4 years than Mich. I only say this because there is almost no way UT fires CBJ within 3 years. UT simply cannot afford it. If Mich has a bad year and loses, say, 6 games they will have regressed. They've won 7,10, and 8 game respectively the last 3 years. If they win 6 or 7, it's impossible to deny they are not exactly improving. Who knows though.

Can throw in that has Mom loved the VFL program, CJG has been recruiting him for 3 years, and his parents tend to favor UT(closer to home)

Mom did say she planned to move wherever DG ended up going to school. I did mention the envelope with the keys to the condo earlier in this thread. Wonder if CJG handed it off? :birgits_giggle:

This is just hoping and wishing on your part. The Big 10 is very weak, Hoke has one major competitor and thats tOSU. They are always going to be bigger than Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa, MSU..etc etc...

Right now Tennessee is a struggling program in by far the best conference in America. We play Bama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida every year...all of those programs have had 10+ wins in the last year...we've won 10 games combined in the last 2 years. We're coming off of a season where we got killed by Vandy....FREAKING VANDY!!!!! Lost to Kentucky the previous year and have been making opposing QB's and RB's look Heisman like (other than Mike Glennon).

Do I think Jones tunrs this around??? YES!! He seems like a players coach and the staff seems relentless in recruiting but this isn't going to happen overnight. We as Vol fans need to realize this rebuilding job may take 3-5 years, we can't keep thinking all these coaches will be the next Saban and turn us around in 12 months.

Tell me about it! Im freeeeezing my a zz off right now! Dont go to scUM Derrick..their fanbase is nothing but a bunch of arrogant, pompous freaks!!

HONOR THY VOLS...CHERISH THEM...

Or you can just be resigned to think you're way, and let the rest of us think the way we do, and we can see who was and wasn't realistic at another time.
