i've been the lone vol who has somewhat stood up for michigan and the big 10 on this thread. Unlike most on here i'm trying to look at from from a recruits perspective or the parent of a recruit, not a fan's perspective. A fan...a blind ut fan in particular is obviously gonna look at the lure of playing in the sec. Even though a recruit might look at it as an opportunity to get his brains beat out considering ut has done zero the past few years to contribute to the sec's recent dominance. Is the sec dominant? Without a doubt, but not due to ut(atleast recently). Is the big 10 big time football? You damn right it is. It's not on par with the sec...look at results overall. The big 10 has 4 teams that are top 10 all time. Each team with as much history and tradition as ut. Ut fans throw up ohio st and michigan vs ut, but they don't seem to wanna discuss ut's results against penn st and nebraska as of late. They wanna act like you can't get to the nfl from the big 10. Which couldn't be further from the truth. From a recruits perspective, i could easily see the lure of playing at an upper echelon big 10 school.
Again, is the sec dominant? Without a doubt and it's not even close. But until we become relevant again, we need to quit yelling sec. Because in theory were not the sec, we're tennessee. So quit riding the coat tales of what uf, bama, and lsu has done as of late, and win some damn football games.
On the flip side. Your argument is weak and one of the most pathetic i've seen in some time. So you are gonna discuss the bad areas of knoxville to justify um having better facilities. Ever metropolitan area has ghettos. Don't sit here and act like michigan doesn't have ghettos. Michigan put the g in ghetto. Don't forget it. I for one take a great deal of pride in knoxville and don't appreciate you downing my city. Most major metro areas of michigan are bonafide sh!tholes. So your point you attempted to make is laughable at best.
I have a ton of respect for um. Don't like them, but respect them. Most of our fans beat their chests demanding respect while giving none. I view um and ut as being on par with each other. Both top ten all time, great facilities, multiple ncs, etc. I could easily see why a recruit would be drawn to um, and yes...he could easily go pro. But if you wanna down my city....i will never respect you.
