'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Yes, yes... obligatory "he chose someone else, let the thread die, blah blah."

Question to anyone who may know, or choose to surmise: Is this over or will CBJ and CJG continue to pursue Green? From what was said his parents wanted him close to home, and they all love UT.

It doesn't seem like CBJ's style to roll over and concede defeat, unless he has other backs in mind. The way he's gotten us back in it with Bell amd Levenberry make me think this isn't over until LOI time, as long as UT keeps after him. With Kamara eliminating us, and Ford in question with AU, seems like a no-brainer. Hell, Ford and Bell could split carries if Ford does choose us.

Over, kid said when he announced, recruiting was over. Let it die.

Right... and Levenberry said he's sticking with FSU when he learned of CBJ's hire.

Big difference here. That was with 2 months until NSD, not 2 weeks. Also, UM is not hiring new position coaches so a coach he does not like will not be hired.

Fair enough... the point of my question was whether or not they were going to keep recruiting him.

I hope the Vols meet UM in a bowl game this year, and Lawson, Carr, McCullers, Levenberry, Johnson, Bell, JRM, etc... all ring DG's clock, and after they get off him, say, "should have been a Vol".

I doubt it, he was pretty clear that the reason that he was doing his announcement before signing day was so that the team that missed on him had time to move onto plan b. He seemed like he would be pretty set on his decision, and we pretty much threw everything we had at him before his committment including having basically the entire staff visit.

Okay, thanks for the info. I guess that leaves all the eggs in the Ford basket.

Hubbs on Derrick 'Gabe Wright' Green.

I don't understand why this happens to us so much. Gabe Wright, Derrick Green, and Otha "Hey Mr. Austin tell the Tennessee fans they have nothing to worry about and I'm a vol for life" Peters.

And don't forget Dalton "I want to go to Texas AM but I want to play in the SEC. Tennessee here I come. Oh Texas AM is SEC now, but I don't care I'm all Vol!!! GBO!!! aannnndimgoingtoTexasinstead" Santos

Well, maybe it's our turn to be on the winning side of this equation with Carl "I've been committed since the spring to Auburn and have a special feeling every time I go to that place" Lawson...only difference is that Lawson has done things the right way and not led us on.

So get this, according to Hubbs, Derrick Green committed to Derek Dooley & Jay Graham last fall. He was planning to be a EE at Tennessee, he even went as far as making plans to get a bluetick coon hound to be there for his announcement.

SMDH!!!

He even said Rudy Ford was a silent until auburn offered..kills me we couldn't land one of those guys.

Dissapointing, yes (especially since that announcement would have been awesome!), but the bright side of the ordeal is we no longer have Dooley.

If he committed to a loser, but changed after a winner was hired, & CJG was retained, you got to wonder. Not gonna lose sleep over it. If he really wanted to be here, he would.

Green had a stronger relationship built with Hoke so he chose Michigan after CBJ was hired.

Ford was always going to Auburn if offered.

It sucks, but I am mored annoyed about Dooley effing up the A.J. Turman recruitment. That was one we had locked up, regardless if we had kept Dooley or not (since CJG stayed).

Lesson to be learned: Silent commitments are not commitments. They mean nothing.

Granted, a verbal/soft commit doesn't always stick, but having a kid go public with it makes it much more likely to hold up.
