'14 CA CB Adoree' Jackson (Signed with USC)

I wish the kid luck. Seems like a nice enough dude.

I will say, he's always struck me as a Pac 12 type of player though. Kids with his skillset and at his size typically don't do that great in the SEC, especially on the defensive side of the ball. There are a few exceptions, but that's typically how it goes. We'll see though.

Nothing like ambles. Adoree has not given away a lot of info. No reason to hate on him just bc you think he doesn't go to Tennessee.[/I]

:nono: Ummm...I'm not hating on anyone. I had no comment at all. Those were the OP's comments, not mine. I simply added the :banghead2: emoticon as a response to his comments.

Obviously, disappointed that we didn't make the cut for Adorees final schools---good luck to the young man and hopefully he stays out west. You can't denigrate the character of this kid because he didn't choose us---the test of time here is holding onto the commits we have and finishing strong recruiting wise then carrying that momentum over to the season. Butch is taking care of business recruiting wise----more and more Adoree-like athletes will knock on our door if we start winning on the field...heck we've already got some kids that are elite level on board....GBO!

This kids obviously a great athlete and would love to have had him but something always was in the back of my mind that he didn't fit with the others in this class. This class is amazing without him.

Not saying you're wrong, because I don't know the kid but he is close friends with Josh Malone, so I think he would have fit in fine. Sucks not to get him.

On another topic, I laugh at all the other people saying we didn't need him anyway. He is the #6 player in the country at a position of need. A bunch of these folks need to stay off twitter and msg boards.

This^^^ I'd rather get the boot at this point than get the kick in the nuts when our hat is left on the table. Obviously would rather have him, but if he isn't choosing us I want to know now.

Getting Adoree would have been nice but I think Bruno Reagan could have been a bigger every-down difference maker for us.

Adoree Jackson has two goals: to play football and to make the Olympic team in 2016. USC and UF have Top 10 track programs, and UT can't compete with that right now. He actually respected our football program by putting us in his top 5 when our track program has less to offer. Time to wish him well, move on and finish strong.

It doesn't matter what the Universities can afford.

It's called a racket. If the NCAA was running garbage collection the DOJ would be involved and be calling this scam the mafia. There is no reason the NCAA or Schools should be treated different, which is what has been going on, it's a huge criminal racket.
It sure as **** matters if they can afford it. Because the thing you and I have spent ALOT of money on will be dropped like music classes in high school. If they have to pay all of athletics, then less collegiate sports will exist. Bye women's bball. Bye gymnastics. Tuition will sky rocket to simply afford the remaining sports.

Go ahead and get unions involved. Go ahead and get the players paid. Go ahead and get rid of college athletics. Can't wait to have England's version of a university. At least I'll save a bunch of money.

It won't work. Get paid a regulated amount every year with no scholarship or have a scholarship. These kids aren't thinking about the big picture. Universities can't afford to pay hard cash to athletes. It will not be just football players. It will be golfers, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, soccer, lacrosse, etc. It will ruin college athletics and soon kids that do not have the predetermined means, will not be able to go to college. There's a bigger picture than revenue vs scholarships. It pans the entire landscape of higher education.

Minor league football would be the only solution, cut out universities entirely except maybe for tradition keep team names.

Title IX will never ever let student athletes receive substantial money. The feminists would rather the schools and NCAA keep all the money rather than letting just the males who generate the revenue have any.

Call me mad, but I've not lost any sleep over this or any 18-year old turning down Tennessee. CBJ worked the program, but I'm sure his 4 hours or less of sleep during this crazy period is pretty sound.

Exactly. It's a pay everybody or pay nobody. No one can afford to pay everyone. Where does that leave us? Lowering the annual salary of the athletes. Which won't be enough to pay for tuitions. These kids are too narrow minded an selfish to understand the bull crap they are spewing.

Well I actually agree that the system needs to change.

Set up a minor league system where football players still get an education but the university is a partner in the minor league system, not the sole owner. The teams can pay the university for naming rights, which could fund the AD. They could also pay a fixed salary to players.

Only downside is the minor league would pretty much exclude non BCS conferences that don't generate enough TV revenue to afford a set player salary and payments to the university.

That would get rid of a lot of football teams. 100's of them from DI to DIII. That would also get rid of a lot of opportunities for poorer kids to attend college.

College football would still exist, they just would have their own system apart from the big boys. D2/3 schools aren't getting any money now they wouldn't get in that system.

Wouldn't affect tuition at all. Very very few athletic departments give money back to the school. Almost every student currently funds the football program now. A minor league system would mean students tuition no longer has to pay for football, every single football team would be in the black and give money to the university.

And I wont lose sleep over Adoree regardless. We landed Derrell Scott yesterday, and I didnt think that was possible a month ago. Everytins gon be arie.

I always thought we had ground to make up anyways. Finishing 5-6 is the same as finishing 2, so now if we still have a spot at least we have time to fill it.

Exactly right, this way we can offer someone else if we still want to add another player in this class instead of reserving it for Jackson. This kid has been mostly quiet, no reason for some to hate on him or the usual 'he isn't any good/we didn't want him anyway' 'so and so will meet him across the middle', yada yada yada.

It's better that it is known now than next Wednesday.

i thought we had a really good chance of landing aj. he would have been a game changer for the football program and the track program.

If we can't get him, I hope he picks usc.

Back in the day when we were winning National Championships in track under Doug Brown and Stan Huntsman, we probably would have gotten Adoree. It's time Dave Hart did what it is going to take to get us back as a national power in track. We have a history of great football/track combo athletes and until Hart makes the decision that track is important again, we will continue to lose athletes like AJ.

And you would think there is someone in the Doug Brown/Stan Huntsman coaching trees willing to do it!
