'14 DC CB D'Andre Payne (UT commit 4/3/13)

Don't forget Riyahd Jones, for some reason I am thinking that reports in spring said he was the #1 CB on the depth chart. Is that true? obviously that was pre-Sutton.

I really think this kid is going to be special. Those undersized kids with hellacious work ethics, always want to prove themselves. He puts in just as much or more than anyone else, he want it badddd

Definitely going to be one of my faves

@realdpayne: When do I start packing?

@realdpayne: I am about to live in Knoxville, Tennesse

This should remove all doubt that he'll be an EE

I agree. He's also possesses very good quickness and closing speed and looks to be very fluid as well. He's tailor made for CB IMO. His height, or lack there of, has been way overblown IMO (5'10" is the average size of NFL CBs), I'm not worried about that it all. Glad this guy is a Vol and I agree he's going to be a good one got us. I think he will get a lot of PT for us next year and wouldn't be surprised if he started some games.

"i'm pretty excited[.] “i’m a little nervous, just me adjusting from high school to college and stuff like that — time management and all of that. I’m very excited, though. I’m real excited to come in and compete.”

“(the official visit) went well. I had a lot of fun,” he said. “we sat down and watched film, and they were just telling me my situation coming in. I just have to come in and work. They just said that they need playmakers, pretty much, and they just want me to come in and be able to make plays. And if i can do that, then i’ll be on the field.”

“if i come in and work hard — not being late to stuff and doing what the coaches are telling me, and just competing and making plays — i believe i can come in and start,” he said.

“i just look at (tennessee freshman cornerback) cam sutton. He came in, in the summertime, and he was able to come in and start, and he played well this season. I really respect cam for that. He’s a good dude. And me coming in early, that’ll give me an advantage, just to get acclimated to college football.

“we haven’t known each other for a very long time, but we have a bond and we’re really close to each other,” payne said. “i think we’re all going to come in and work hard together and do what we’ve got to do.”
