'14 DC CB D'Andre Payne (UT commit 4/3/13)

Tim Jennings did good at UGA, and had a good years with the Colts , and even better with the Bears.

Payne is one of my favorites too, he works hard and I am short like he is, I have to root for him. Lol

I'm still just too scarred from the two seasons where our guys couldn't even field a clean punt and killed us..That's the most important part of being a return man, and DY is very reliable at it.

That's why I'm not ready to deem any freshman "an instant upgrade over DY".

Oh and DY had a nice highschool tape too.

I can see Payne having a JRM type of year on special teams. Actually I'm going to say with the talent Butch brought in that the special teams will be special this year. Should be a fun part of our team to watch.

If Wharton takes the spot, it will be because he proved he is a reliable punt fielder. The coaches won't put someone back there who can't field a punt. That's why we saw Jacob Carter fielding so many punts last season.

Forgot about this guy.

Man... it feels good to have some athletes again. Nice to have so many 4* players, you forget about them, instead of hoping the 3-4 that you signed will be able to save the day.

This really sums the last two classes up.... We are on a whole new level talent wise.. And it'll stay like that.

Cam Sutton possibly included in that group? If I remember right, didn't he get some work in practice back there last year? Regardless it will be nice to have plenty of options in the coming seasons.

At the open scrimmage last year, it was DY and Cam catching punts. Butch made them catch 5 each as he messed with them on the mic. DY was 5/5. Cam was 4/5.

Nice, wouldn't surprise me to see him get a real shot to return some this year.

I want DY to get one return for a TD this year... Just gimme one

When he committed, I think I predicted 3 career returns for touchdowns. He's been close to breaking them, but that last guy between him and the goal line...

With the multitude of options available to CBJ to return punts, there's no way I'd risk injury to Sutton there.

Absolutely NOT! I think Vic Wharton is the shoe-in candidate. Last year he led the nation in returns and scoring returns. This makes me feel like :dance2:

I get this line of thinking, but honestly I have no problem putting the best back on punt returns. Kickoff returns would be another story and I think we have a lot of options there, but if Cam was our best threat on punts (not saying he is) I would not hesitate to put him back there.

I gave up on him at the MSU game. Haven't been able to cheer for him since.
