"I've been talking to them a lot and it's been going good. I've been talking to coach (Robert) Gillespie and just been talking to him all the time on Facebook and on the phone a lot as well," Valentine said.
"I watched their spring game, I watch their videos on youtube. I look at everybody that's at the school and I've looked at the brochure the coaches gave me and it looks nice. I like what I see," Valentine offered.
"I feel like I can go there and play and see if I can fill in the big shoes like the last defensive tackles did," he said. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound lineman hopes to see Tennessee this summer, likely in June. "I want to see if the coaches welcome me home and just want to see what they show me," Valentine said. "It should be pretty good." When looking for a school, Valentine said there's only one real priority. "I just want to be at home," Valentine said. "On the first day of school I want to be able to walk around and feel at home already."
Asked if it will be tough for any school to overtake the Hurricanes' top spot he said it would be, but if the right school catches his attention he could see himself end up away from home. "A little bit. It's just home," Valentine answered when asked if it would be hard to leave his home state. "My home is here and my mom is here in Palm Bay which is just three hours away (from Miami). It's easy for my family to come and watch and everything. I don't want them to have to have a six or seven hour drive. But, if that's the school that gets my attention the most then they will just have to make a little trip."
