'14 FL DT Travonte Valentine

I appreciate all of the inside information that is provided. But some of you make these definitive statements such as Valentine's grade concerns. And I'm just curious where you guys are getting this information. I mean are some of you his school guidance counselors? Not trying to be a dick, but everything I'm reading says that he's aware of this concern, and is working hard to finish his class requirements to be eligible.

Just saw this update originally posted on 5/19

And wanted to point out how he said he watches the YouTube videos of UT. Which I assume means the ones that have been being released periodically. Which is awesome.

I feel confident our recruiters are telling recruits to watch them. #getsit

“Everything with Tennessee has been going great,” Valentine told InsideTennessee.com. “I just love the attention that the coaches are giving me and they way they are really coming at me hard. It’s been good.”

“It has been really good getting to know Coach Gillespie,” he said. “We talk on Facebook almost every day and we are just really building a strong bond. It is going really well.”

“They have just showed me that if I come to Tennessee then I am definitely going to have a chance to play early,” he said. “They are going to recruit a lot of defensive tackles in the class and whoever goes will have a chance to play immediately. That is big for me. I can see myself coming in there and being ready to play.”

“Tennessee, just the way they produce defensive linemen and defensive tackles is great,” he said. “They just have a tradition there of producing great players. They have a strong defensive coordinator and a great defensive line coach. They will have me prepared mentally and physically.”

“I have told every coach in the country that has recruited me that family comes first and if I feel like the team is a family that is big for me,” he said. “If I feel like the students, the teachers and the coaches are all a big family then I will be good with that school.”

“I haven’t been to Tennessee yet, but I can’t wait to get down there,” Valentine said. “I am probably going to get there this summer. I am ready to see everything. Their facilities are supposed to be really nice.”

coaches know what players have alot of work to do in the class room

and half the time they end up right when those players sign with marshall or la tech or they dont sign with anybody at all

its pretty well known valentine is one these players i cant remember what was said but i read somewhere he needs a crazy amount of credits this yr

I lived in So Central Florida (the mucklands) for 50 years. That part of the state is southern but along the coasts it isn't. The east coast is Yankee (NJ, NY) until you get to the Miama area, then it is a mix of Yankee and Latin. On the west coast it is a mixture of southern and Midwest (IN, IL, MI, MN and OH).
So, the post you reference is very appropriate and hardly BS.

If Eddie Lacy can get Into school I have confidence.

Seriously. I know I harp on this topic a lot, but I really don't get how some kids get in, especially the high profile ones, and others don't.

If the Eddie Lacy's and Jadeveon Clowney's and the Vince Young's can get into school, there is a chance, lol.

Vince went back and finished up getting his degree so he can't be too dumb, plus anytime I've seen him in an interview or in person he hasn't seemed like an extremely dull individual, not a genius but not an idiot either.

When he was coming out of HS, I'd have been surprised if he could've read an Eric Carle book.

His appearance on Jay Leno after his National Championship, killed more brain cells than weed ever has!

- Went to camp at the U this past weekend, but didn't participate. He's going to be back on campus this weekend with his team for camp though.
