Unfortunately, the ones who would need to read it the most, never would...LOL.

It's simple, treat people with respect, and most will treat you the same way. It served me well my 26 years in Law Enforcement.

Alas, your first sentence is all too true. Far too many people exercise a degree of freedom in online discourse that they would not dare to display in face-to-face contact. Nevertheless, you may rest assured that, in our opinion, you are in a class by yourself among Florida fans. I have encountered, via VolNation, only one Alabama fan, one Auburn supporter and one Oregon devotee who conducted themselves in an equally respectful manner.

Yep. Bates will jersey will be my next purchase.

I'm betting the Bates jersey will be a popular one! I still have a Dale Jones jersey (#54) from the mid-80's that I let the grandkids wear sometimes when they're here. Of course I still have a couple of Peyton jerseys that I wear (they're getting old too).

Ultimately, Butch Jones will have to get it done on the field as coach at Tennessee, but it’s hard to knock anything he’s done off it to this point leading up to his first season in Knoxville.

In particular, Jones and his staff are making things happen on the recruiting trail and*landed a commitment*from ESPN 150 linebacker*Dillon Bates*on Wednesday night. Bates, who’s from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., is the son of former Dallas Cowboys player Bill Bates, who’s from Knoxville and played his college football at Tennessee. The younger Bates is ranked by ESPN as the No. 3 outside linebacker in the country and had narrowed his choices to Alabama, Florida and Tennessee.

4.51...247 looking real foolish questioning Bates speed and bumping Elam up 200 spots. Also got Vic Wharton with like an 82 or 83 grade. How you gonna be the #11 athlete on Rivals,#20 on ESPN, but in the 100s on 247 haha C'mon guys.

247 is stirring the pot. They need to vary differently from each site considerably to gain viewers and fans of the site. See: crystal ball predictions, Elam a 5*...

That's two guys. Rivals has a lot of guys with terrible rankings. They aren't going to get them all right.

Dep is aces in my book. Goes back to the early days of Nate's recruitment. I have always appreciated the info and banter he brings to the board. We sure are glad to have your county boys here.

Glad to hear you retired, dep. Did it myself a few years back. People ask what I do with my time. I just look at them and laugh. Most days it is whatever my wife and I want to do. Some days it is whatever our grandson wants to do. It's all good.

Thanks Vols4us. I managed to go almost a year of doing whatever I wanted. Then I ended up spending 4 weeks in the hospital. Thanks to the Dr bills, I've gotten myself a part-time job to get the bills paid off so I can go back to doing what I want to do. :)

Dep is my favorite rival poster also.

Thanks VG. You have always been very supportive of me and I appreciate it.

we have a place in n florida. lots of gator alum. its tough to care or relate to florida athletics, especially with jc's bamdwagoners.

we appreciate ur input. each school has its true cfb fans, its nice to be able to have good discussions with them, i value the input.

iyam peterman is a dark horse. not sure about his throwing style. is his ball cartcheable?

Ugahater, we have something in common, I don't like the Bulldogs either. :)

Yes, Nate throws a very catchable ball. When he was in high school, when I was on the sidelines watching him warm up, you could hear the ball hum when he threw it. He has a good arm but has touch too.

Chris Nee of 247 says some people are worried about Bates speed.....uh.....ok. What?

He's meaning that offensive coaches are worried that Bates is so fast they won't be able to get him blocked and that he will be hard to pass on because he will close so fast on the receivers. Simple explanation.

The GV247 staff basically stated this morning that they expect Bates to receive a bump in their rankings at the next update, based on his performance at the Opening (combine workouts). He is current the #204 overall player in the Top 247, #18 OLB, and #23 in the state of FL.

In the Composite, he is the #113 overall player, #7 OLB, and #11 in the state of FL.

*Bates commitment to Tennessee surprised no one as his father was a stand-out for the Vol's and he was considered a heavy lean the whole way. The younger Bates is a fundamentally sound heat seeking missile and we envision him making an early impact at Tennessee. The Vol's need to start building depth and Bates will help from day one as he is expected to be ready to play. He would have to be considered one of the most solid verbal commitments in the country.
