My point being is that he can coach with the talent that he has and does not underachieve. What exactly is your point?

The same could be said for Saban, Spurrier, Sumlin, Muschamp, Franklin, Beilema, and even Mullen and Freeze considering the talent their dealing with. It's not a given that the success will automatically translate to the SEC because its a different monster. Richt may underachieve, but his teams aren't pushovers.

That being said, I think Jones will succeed at TN. But there's still the possibility that he's in over his head because he's never been here before.

I know me and you haven't seen eye to eye much lately, but you gotta look at it in a positive view. There's always that chance, but look what he's done at smaller programs like Saban and Meyer did before getting their jobs at Bama and Florida. Im looking at this with the best possible attitude that a Vol fan should have. The guy has impressed me more than Dooley, Kiffin, and 1/2 of Fulmer's tenure already when it comes to welcoming and GETTING former players and coaches on campus. His recruiting hasn't been just average either.

^^ This

After all this program (and the fans) have been through the past few years, if a Vol fan can't be optimistic about the current situation, there's a black place in their heart. I've waited a long time to be this excited about the Vols. I'm gonna soak up every irrational, hopelessly optimistic minute of it. :good!:

Thanks a lot man! :hi:

I was hoping to see Bama and Florida hats sitting unused on the table, but still awesome.

Weird editing at the end though.

Is there anyone on here who did record the whole interview that would be gracious enough to post it for my dumb self who didn't record it?

Ok, I get that.

But for every Saban and Meyer, there's just as many flops. It sounds pessimistic but its the truth.

Bates tested as well as anyone of the linebackers at the Opening. He ran well, showed quickness in the shuttle and almost vertical jumped 40-inches. That’s impressive. While in Oregon he committed to Tennessee. The Vols are getting an athletic and instinctive outside linebacker prospect that should be 235-240-pounds before he leaves Knoxville. Bates will have an opportunity to be a very good one. He showed he can play in space and is very good in coverage.

He did an interview on sports animal yesterday that I happened to catch.

Basically the usual rah rah stuff. Hyams asked him if he had seen video of his dad tackling Hershel Walker. He laughed and said no but he'd seen his dad's three Super Bowl rings.

On a side note, he was previously rated a 91. So, with the 95 rating, he'll be #75 - #100 overall player range; he's currently at #204.

While his profile isn't showing it yet (for some reason), 247 bumped him from a 91 to a 95 which means he'll be anywhere from #75-101 in the country, a big jump. That will give us more points on 247 and maybe jump a spot.

Haha I wonder how many times he has said that in his life.
