So does this put any weight behind the theory that CBJ is telling recruits to hold off on their announcements as to spread out commitments and keep some kind of momentum going up until NSD? If he announced when VQ said he actually committed (about a month ago) than that would have put his announcement right after Medley (5/22) and Henderson (5/30).

I know in some situations (i.e. Booth) maybe its more of a hold off to see if we can get some other players that we're higher on at the same spot, but I don't see that being to case with Bates at all.

Looks like CBJ said hold off and announce on a national stage, oh and put UF and Bama in your top three just so everyone sees UT beat out our rivals for a player that every team SEC would love to have.

And at the risk of digging up bones (Randy Travis voice), I guess this means that Bates was a silent commit for about a month..... THEY DO EXIST!!

In the case of Bates, it sure does seem that way...

Of course his situation is a little different than most recruits. So it might be that Bates is the only one that had a "planned" announcement. Being that Bates is one of the top recruits in the nation and he was going to be on national TV in less than a month, I could see that too

I know from previous experience with the great unwashed of this board that "you don't want no stinkin' "congratulations" from no stinkin' Gators, but congratulations anyway.

Thanks. I try and post only when I have something I think ya'll would be interested in. I don't want to get tagged as being a troll. LOL. Football season is coming so I'll probably be around more then.

My mom is from Johnson City and I have a bunch of relatives up there, so I do have ties to Tennessee, but I was born and raised in Florida, and I've always been a Gator. I love Tennessee, it's a beautiful state and now that ya'll have two St Johns County boys there, (Nate and Dillon) I plan on keeping up with them through their time at UT.

So while I'll never be 100% Vol, I do pull for ya'll except when you play Florida. :)

LOL, nope Volsdoc.

As far as being born in TN, I wouldn't have minded, I love it up there. I'm more of a mountain person than a beach person. I'd move up there in a heartbeat.
