Evaluating high school football players is an inexact science, but the ranking of the prospects by recruiting services is akin to spinning a roulette wheel. So The Inside Read asked some of the nation's top recruiters for this year's most overrated and underrated prospects with the caveat they not choose their own recruits.

Before this gets too out of control. Please take the time to read.

It appears as if they have asked 5 recruiters to name the most over/under rated. The writer of the article can't exactly do much about a unnamed recruiters opinion. Unless you are in to censorship.

Didn't mean to cause a storm. I don't have the time to sit and watch videos on these guys. Glad to hear its not the case because our biggest thing last year was a clear lack of team speed

Let's look at Bates vs. Jamardre Cobb, who was chosen as one of the most underrated prospects by those same "top recruiters." Here's how they did in SPARQ events at The Opening last July:

* Cobb (6-0, 229) - 4.79 40, 4.72 shuttle, 40.0' PB, 27.6" VJ, 86.61 SPARQ
* Bates (6-3, 211) - 4.51 40, 4.09 shuttle, 36.0' PB, 39.8" VJ, 126.69 SPARQ (2nd highest score among all LB prospects at all Nike SPARQ combines last year)

You are assuming that those "top recruiters" know who each other are and have discussed this with each other. I would be willing to bet that a 5 phone called were answered, each person gave their two answers and hung up. Don't look into it too deeply.

I would be willing to bet that the 'top recruiters' are a figment of the writer's imagination. He either made this up himself or asked a buddy who kinda follows recruiting. Any legit 'top-recruiter' has seen DB's SPARQ results and isn't making those kind of ignorant comments.

Just read this. We need speed at lb. Waiting for Dillon to prove em' wrong

Overrated
Dillon Bates, OLB (Tennessee): "He's a great kid, but he just can't play at the SEC level. He doesn't move at the same speed as guys that are playing at that level."

I betcha a dollar that the ‘top recruiter’ who said that was also one of the top recruiters who didn’t land Dillon Bates.

That couldn't be any more wrong. Whoever made that statement clearly didn't know what they were talking about. He showed off his speed at the Under Armour All-American bowl practices and had analysts saying was fast enough to play safety in the SEC

I mean lets be honest, they can't be "top recruiters" anyway. Because if they were, they'd be on Butch's staff already.
