Saw some good, saw some not so good. Looked like a freshman at times. IMO

Should be very good once he gains some confidence out there. Excited for his future here.

also my impression. over all i think....if the offense is not producing, defense got a long long day....and that is hard stuff...

Agree here. The offense didn't help out the D tonight (who played well, just ran out of gas at the end)

All things considered, Jakob did a good job tonight. I'm looking forward to reviewing his play since JRM played inside some but the big thing is that we run stopped well and I didn't see much in the way of horrible mistakes. That's about all you can ask for and more from a MLB who is a true frosh getting his first start. I think a lot of folks underestimate the position and its responsibilities.

As someone else said - some good, some not so good but I'd add that I don't recall catastrophic plays either which is a win all its own given he's a true frosh.

Yep. The only catastrophic play was the long TD pass to put them up 10 when Coleman was in position to make the play.

The play that broke our back was when Malone tossed a ball he had in his hands to the defense. We were about to either tie the game or go up by four.

Yeah. I meant more what the defense gave up. No doubt, the INT that Malone should have caught was the big turning point of the game.

I agree. It was devastating. We still tried to battle back, but you could tell the wind left our sails a little bit there. I believe that he will bounce back and become a good player for us. There is talent coming in behind him so he will have to continue to develop to see the field.

Malone will either grow from that or fold up. I think he's a good competitor and will come back pissed off for greatness. I predict a marginal performance against Vandy and then he blows up in the bowl game and has everyone amped up for 2015.

So proud of Jakob. He was very good Sat night. I think there were a couple times he didn't honor his gap responsibility and allowed for some cutbacks. But overall he was tough and fast and more than anything he didn't look like a deer in headlights... really seemed to have his wits about him all game.

You guys better scoot over... the JJ bandwagon is gonna get mighty crowded here soon.

Competitor? He half way runs routes and never makes half an effort unless it hits him in stride. Kid has a lot of things to figure out. We saw it in preseason practice highlights but it's the end of the season and he still plays like he doesn't care. Just not impressed with him at all, talent to be the best WR we have but no effort.

Before anyone blasts me go back and show me one tough catch he has made then look at how many he made no effort on at all.

I said I think he is. This year has humbled him I'm sure. But he's still played a lot of snaps which tells me the coaches somewhat think he has the ability to threaten the defense. You're right though, he hasn't toughed out a difficult catch... YET!

I think he's a good kid from a good family. They will provide some support and encouragement. I remember someone on here close to Hurd's family (maybe LWS?) said he was really depressed after his surgery and wasn't sure playing running back was the thing for him. It clicked for him, it'll click at a different time for Malone.

All things considered, no on in that group could have made up for AJ's production. Also, Jakob is going to have to work on shedding blocks. A soon as an OLineman put hands on him he was locked up, something that didn't happen to AJ on a regular basis. Our offense lost us the game, but AJ not being there was def a catalyst.

yes that is true...jj got to learn th read and react on during the play...this is one of his most important development areas.

ich think, that aj´s participation would have changed the result of the game. for sure he does a lot of things better than jj...that have to be cause he is a potential nfl player.
