Also much of the nationalist pride in the late thirties and forties was due to the humiliations Germans were forced to suffer in the aftermath of the first Great War. Many people discount the effect of the policies after WWI, and it's effect on the nations psyche. They had no idea Hitler would be so evil. They just elected a leader that promised not to let the world kick them around anymore. I'm very surprised he wasn't assassinated in 41 or 42. There is no explaining that. The nation new what it had then, but seemed drunk on the power.

The answer is fear. Hitler's regime was full of crazy people in leadership that were just as big or if not a bigger monster than Hitler that ruled with an iron fist. There were many Germans that thought Hitler was a monster and wanted him gone.
Many American's need to look at history and learn how tyranny gets started and how it can ruin a country.

When I was stationed at Bitburg, it was fascinating listening to stories of the old-timers regaling about how Adolf was brutal on the people, forcing them to learn English with no regard to what stage of life...young, old ancient...with repercussions for those that didn't learn in a timely manner

Ahh, so I'm not the only one that sees this. The German people chose to disolve their own democracy because the people couldnt afford to survive. Milk was 10 a gallon and bread was 8 per loaf. Economics is very important my friends.

I think Johnson will see plenty of playing time backing up AJ at the mike linebacker this year. I think he is severely underrated because he has only played American football for two years. I think if he played his whole high school career on Florida he would be a four star IMO

I paid $3.30 for a gallon of gas the other day, essentially the same price I paid ten years ago.

Not sure what you're getting at with the hyper inflation reference?

10 years ago, we were averaging less than $2/gallon. I don't know what you're talking about....

Haha good catch USMC.

When I graduated college in 2001 gas was $1.28/gal in Knoxville and $1.78/gal in Connecticut (moved there for my first job).

I remember this specifically because I was surprised by how much more gas cost in CT

Ok, so to check my own memory, I actually googled it and the natl avg began hitting three dollars and has stayed there since 2005. (Despite tracking substantially higher for a while during the pre-bust boom of 07-08).

So, my bad... That was almost nine years ago, not ten.

Ajvol, I graduated college in '98 and recall similar prices around $1. As shocking as it is for me to dwell on though, that was almost 16 years ago. Time has a funny way of doing that, doesn't it?

You think, heck it was right at a dollar when I got out of college, now gas costs three and a quarter!! Then someone reminds you the gulf of time between your starting point in that example and you realize you're getting old.

Maybe it's just me.

Oh I agree we're getting older, but it doesn't support your argument IMO.

Based on your analogy I'd like someone to explain the gulf of time between 1980-2003 where avg per gal gas prices were between $.86 and $1.59?

Contrast that with 2004 to 2011 avg between $1.88 and $3.53

The only important question to ask in any recruit thread now, "Has Auburn called?"

Ok well I'll talk about JJ since this has turned into an economics debate.

The thing that impresses me the most is his tackling. Unlike so many kids these days that just drive at the ball carrier without wrapping up, he wraps up and DOES NOT let go. Hopefully he can teach some of these kids that are overly concerned with making SC, how to actually tackle.

I'm so sick of watching as we have a guy stopped in the backfield, or for a short gain, him break away for a huge gain because our players decide they want to make SC instead of a stop and try to blow the guy up by just driving a shoulder into them. Our players have been all over SC because of this horrible tackling, but its because the guy bounced off and made a huge play.

Is it for sure that AJ will be back next year? I know many of the scouts have said that he could use another year to work on some things, but I haven't seen for sure if he will be back.

The scale shows that gas sold for average of $ .30 to $ .31 per gallon in mid-1960's. I can remember it selling for $ .19 to $ .24 per gallon around Knoxville during that time period. I used to complain if it got to $ .29 back then.

Remember he's from Germany so it was actually a 40 meter dash. He would've been around 4.6 seconds if they used yards imo iyam c3po jmo gbfo bbq v,b

You are right...it is a 40 meter time....i took his time twice. He'll be faster soon....he is able to run a 4.6 soon.

Stop looking on recruiting websites for 40 times. They are usually out of date anyway. And a 40 time, good or "bad" doesn't make a football player good or bad.

Wo wo, I wasn't saying a good 40 makes a good player. Putting words in my mouth there. Just referencing that we are trying to add team speed, and I heard he was fast. But, saw that "40" time, and it seemed oddly slow for what I was hearing. That's all. But, for those that just gave actual info, appreciate it!

No I wasn't referring to you specifically. In other threads, posters make comments like "Too slow. Do not want" Everyone knows we need speed. If the coaches think he's fast enough, that's good for me. 40 times on those websites was all I was getting at.
