I was in Germany on a job/business related trip in the early 1990's and we were strongly instructed to not talk about anything related to WW2 or the political situation from that time period. Many people considered it offensive and it angered some others. Not sure how things are now but the nicknames relating to that time period may not be appreciated. Just something to think about.
I have thought this for a while but after seeing this picture I Think its worth saying.
Bates looks far from physically being ready to play LB in the SEC as a true freshmen. All the talk about him being an immediate factor seems very premature IMO
JJ is huge no doubt and yes made Hurd look smallish but like I said bates doesn't look his listed size in any pictures I have seen. Not close to 220 judging from the pictures I have seen which I have posted probably isn't a fair way to judge
6'3" 215 is plenty big to contribute as a freshman considering 2/3 of our LBs last year were ~220ish as seniors.Thread weirdness aside, if Bates is really 6'3 215, then Johnson must be 6'5 260. He's significantly bigger than Bates. And he might really be close to that big. There was a picture of him with Hurd and Moseley posted a few weeks ago where he looked much bigger than Hurd. IMO, Johnson is going to be a DE. 6'4 240 is huge for HS lber.
At 215, Bates is probably about average for a typical LB recruit. Unlikely he'll be able to contribute as a freshman at LB, which is fine.

Bates does need to pack on a bit of muscle to become an every down guy, but with his speed he could still contribute early on special teams or in obvious passing/ nickel situations (where he could potentially be giving AJ a breather).
If he doesn't play as a freshman, it won't be because he's only 215. It will either be because we've had multiple guys like JRM and Justin King step up and lock down LB spots, because he just can't get his assignments down, because the coaches want to redshirt him, or some combination of the three.
Very true, but the true German military was very innovative and excellent strategists.
Not their crazy leaders...
I meant the former, not the later.

Hi guys.. back from christmas again...
I think the german view on ww2 is different cause of the suffer our country brought to the world. So people over here are still not useing words related to ww2 in a "funny" way cause of respect of all affected human being. That's the reason why we are just different in germany and, at least all over europe. We can't handle some things that easy cause of history and our responsibility. So please do not think we don't like the 'american way of fun' .....:good!: it's just a different relatedness to history.
