you´re right...in germany you are allowed to drink beer and low alcohilic drinks from the age of 16 and hard stuff like vodka form the age 18.
i know that jj stopped driking alcoholic drinks (beer) in 2012. i don´t know what happend, but it not sounds like jakob.
I don't think anyone around these parts has any less opinion of Jakob. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I still firmly believe he's a great kid.

At worst,he took a sip or two of the beverage he was holding at a social gathering...bonding with teammates relaxing from some heavy workouts...never understood why alcohol impairs hearing to the point that you have to blare the loud music...if the partymasters conceded to the first request this doesn't get dramatized as Project X II....:rock2:

I grew up idolizing those guys. Bergkamp's late winner against argentina is still one of my favorite calls in sports.
Van bronckhorst just retired, maybe we can get him to kick? He had an absolute screamer in 2010.
De Jong is a very physical defender and probably should have drawn red in the 2010 final. That said I think his reputation as a "dirty player" is overblown because of that game. He only has one career red card.
One of the most disappointing things about January linebacker enrollee Jakob Johnson's name popping up over the weekend among those charged with underage drinking was the fact that so many in and around the program and the Knoxville community have already come to love the big Germany native. Hes already become one of the teams most active members out in the community, making several trips to East Tennessee Childrens Hospital and various area charities.-247 Sports
I get talking about hot Dutch girls (because of the color orange), but why are we talking about Dutch football in Jakob's thread? The Dutch and German football teams don't exactly get along too well.
I don't think the quoted article alluded to him being considered a thug. I think you are reaching. He got caught violating the law. Media outlets may discuss it. Simple. I do agree with your larger point though. So now consuming beer means you are a thug and are not worthy of performing community service?
I think Obama drinks beer - impeach him immediately!
If this is the new world we live in due to social media, then I vote to ban the internet!
Obviously a large portion of the population were never young adults, never went to college, and never had a social life. Who cares if they had a kegger, as long as nobody got hurt. Better be college students while they can as they will soon be grown up the for rest of their lives.

back to football, please!
I've watched every video I can find on young Mr. Jackson and forgive me but I don't see the attraction? I sure hope he has more speed than shown? and is intelligent enough to pick up on coaching?
All I see is practice fodder.
I had my first legal drink at age 18 in Germany.
As to the US... The US changed it's laws about the drinking age because of scare tactics in the 80s, President Reagan tied interstate funds to the drinking age that forced states to comply with raising the age to 21 or else lose funding.
The states had to comply. Although the intentions were good (lower traffic deaths) it's created an absolute mess of things in that you can vote and die for your country at age 18 and get tried as an adult if you dare slip up but you can't take a legal drink until you're 21. Education has done more to stop drunk driving than raising the drinking age.
Most Americans don't care about an 18 year old college student drinking. It's one of those laws most would rather either be not enforced or repealed. It's not a big deal as long as they're not driving or drinking to the point of getting themselves into trouble.
Butch called him the Alpha Male of this class. There is speculation that Thigpen believes he was the best LB prospect in the country. I think he'll be more than a practice fodder.back to football, please!
