'14 FL WR Isaiah McKenzie

Unless you're watching game film, as opposed to highlight film, it really isn't a whole lot better.

It's true that you can't make any definitive statements about a guy just based on his highlights. But you can definitely watch it with an understanding that they are omitting most of his flaws. You can gauge what kind of plays he's capable of making if put in the right position.

It also gives you a chance to see a guy in pads and get a glimpse at his style of play. I would say you learn a lot more by watching it than not watching anything. And it just kind of generally gets me pumped about recruits.

Can you learn anything by watching it? Sure, I guess. But a highlight tape is just that, highlights. As you say, there are tons of things being left out. Also, everyone loves to talk about competition levels that all of these guys face and, while that can come into play when discussing stats, it's amazing how almost all highlight tapes tend to have plays from only a few games each year. Unless you are extremely familiar with all the different teams on that players schedule (which I know I am definitely not, except for a handful of prospects we are actively pursuing), those cut ups could have come from the two or three worst teams they played against all season.

Quick recruiting note...

Talked to someone in Florida this morning that told me Tennessee is still coming after Isaiah McKenzie, the athlete from down in South Florida.

I was told it looks like UF visit on the 17th, Ole Miss visit on the 24th and then possibly a Tennessee visit on Jan. 31. I'm not sure how it will work out as the numbers game is going to be very interesting heading down the stretch.

Rob Cassidy, West: A three-star prospect. Isaiah McKenzie showed up in Orlando as a little-buzzed about prospect but made big plays all week. Despite being a little undersized, McKenzie made as many plays as anyone throughout the week. He was weapon not only out of the backfield but in the return game as well.

McKenzie keeps in regular touch with Tennessee receivers coach Zach Azzanni as 'Coach Z' hopes to bring in the talented wideout for his final official visit.

"He told me that if I come up there I might just commit," McKenzie said laughing. "He told me it's that good up there. He wants me to come up there on an official visit and just see everything." -Rivals

An interesting note with McKenzie is that he is teammates with top 2015 QB Torrance Gibson. Gibson has really been feeling the Vol love on Twitter lately.

Gibson is a monster. Not sure if he's a QB at the next level, but he has off the charts athleticism. Stampini says he can be Andre Johnson at WR.
