Officially decommitted from the University of Tennessee, the reason is NOT because of another player. Appreciate everyone.

Really pissed me off with that.

Which is to say...completely because of another player.

Jay, what is your take on the departure and the talent that is showing interest like Hubbs says in UT?

Thanks :hi:

The thing that I appreciate THE MOST about Tennessee is the genuine/classy fans. You all are good people.

Looks like we accepted his commitment and then continued to recruit over him... He got pissed about it..

This is a case of Butch and co not being afraid to play hardball in recruiting... Saban and the like have been doing this for years.. Seems to be working for them. Keep doin your thing, Butch!

After going through his tweets the few days do you think we asked him to play defense and he didn't like that?? He was talking about people wanting him to get a bigger frame and he was talking all this crap about starting from scratch

Some recruits/parents will respect and understand it and some will look at it like the staff was not being honest with him when talking/recruiting him. Coaches say a lot of things to get that commitment. Each coach handles things differently and that includes how they value a commitment.

I hate it for the kid I really do, but this is the life in big time recruiting. Feelings are going to get hurt. Butcher gotta do what a butcher gotta do.

I seriously doubt anybody told him the starting job was his and he wasn't going to have to compete for it. There are 5 stars players that never even see the field. I think it has to do less with what the coaches say and more with what a player has made up in his own mind about how things are going to play out with the roster. No matter the situation, if he is leary of the competition, then i'm personally glad it was discovered ahead of time. No disrespect to the athlete, but the mentality of a player is a huge part of success and it's also one of the most difficult things to predict.
