At first this commit seemed very underwhelming to me, especially with that 40 time, but then I watched his film. This guy could run a 40 yard dash one-legged for a 4.7. He has athleticism to burn and he could fit in really well with our new offense

Solid pickup

Certainly don't doubt CBJ and I certainly don't doubt this kid's talent but...

here's to hoping he shoots back up in the rankings this year, it would only do good for that #1 we all want haha

I love this pick up. The reason being we are in big time with Kitt, Malone and Booth, so for CBJ to take on this guy he has to really be a solid fit for this new offense.

#Tennessee commit Lawrence Lee also competes for the West Florida Tech track team and has a personal best in the long jump of 23-feet, 1-in.

Im not sold but Im not close minded either. He does have some nice moves. I will trust the staff with this one and hope he pans out. Welcome aboard young man! Time to get to work.

This is the type of kid that will hurt defenses all game. Will be fun to watch him in the slot versus LBs, safeties, and No.3 CBs.

Exactly. Looking at our talent at WR this spring, I'm willing to bet this staff is excited about Lee. I don't watch much baseball but he has the "clean up" feel.

They were very excited, as well as myself," Lee told InsideTennessee. "Me and coach Butch sat down in his office about my two days there and what I thought about it. I told him I really liked it and was ready to commit.

"I feel like (Jones) is a very good coach. He did a very good job at Cincinnati along with the coaching staff and offensive coordinator that he brought in. I feel like they're a great fit at Tennessee."

"My high school runs very similar plays to what coach Jake has in mind. It's very similar, very, very similar and it fits me well," Lee said.

I love his fight when he goes up for jump balls and when running through tackles.. Plays much bigger than his size.

Lawrence Lee admittedly was leaning toward Tennessee before he arrived on campus for the first time Saturday to see for himself what the Vols have to offer. By the time he left, he knew it was where he wanted to play. The junior wide receiver from West Florida High School of Advanced Technology in Pensacola, Fla., committed to Tennessee on Sunday, giving first-year Vols coach Butch Jones and his staff their ninth commitment for the 2014 class and their second in less than a week.

“I was a fan of Tennessee before they offered me, and I just enjoyed how the atmosphere was on campus,” he said. “I always liked their tradition, and the players were very nice and the coaching staff was just great.”

The 5-foot-10.5, 167-pound Lee said he informed Jones of his decision near the end of his weekend visit. “I talked to Coach Jones before I left, and we were just talking about how my day went, and I committed to the University of Tennessee,” Lee said. “He couldn’t believe me. He was very happy for me. He was ready for me to come in, and I’m also ready to play for him and Coach Z (wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni).”

Lee, who picked up an offer from the Vols more than a month ago, said he recently has stayed in contact with Azzanni and Derrick Lett, the Vols’ offensive quality control assistant.

“I liked Tennessee. I just didn’t want to commit before because I had never been to the campus. But I figured I was going to like the campus, and I’d always heard good things about Tennessee,” said Lee, who claims to have been timed at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash. “Once I really saw for myself that it was a nice campus and it had all the resources you need to be a good student-athlete and all the resources you need to be a better football player, then I knew that’s what I was looking for.”

“I talked to Coach Jake, the offensive coordinator, and he said he would like to put me at the slot and (use me as) kind of a bubble guy,” said Lee, who claims to have been timed at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Lee said he’s not sure yet when he plans to enroll at Tennessee, but he’s interested in looking into whether he could have the option of being an early enrollee. “On the way back (from Tennessee), I was talking about that with my coach,” he said. “I’ll have to check with my school and see how that goes. If I can, I will be an early enrollee and get ahead of the other guys coming in and just get started (on learning) the system.”

we can get a #1 class even if hs ranking doesnt improve. as long as we take over 20 players and noone is ranked below him.
