As some of you know, Tennessee offensive line commitment Orlando Brown was honored by the Atlanta touchdown club this week as offense of lineman of the week for the area.
Today, I talked with Orlando's high school coach. He told me he has been extremely thrilled by Orlando's progress in the past year.
He thinks by the time Orlando is 21 years old we will see what kind of football skills he really has. And he believes he will be a very, very, very good player by that stage of life.
He speaks so highly of Orlando, and not just because of his ability. Coach Mark Fleetwood really likes Orlando as a person, and likes that he has worked incredibly hard to reshape his body and become a better player.
At one time, Orlando was not very good at finishing his blocks. Even in the team season opener a couple of months ago that was an issue. But Fleetwood told me Orlando is getting better and better each week, is finishing his blocks, is being more aggressive and more intelligent on the field.
In a recent game, Orlando graded out at 94% while playing left tackle. Coach Fleetwood was pretty sure that is Orlando's highest offensive line grade in high school. For an offensive tackle, 94% is darn good.
Fleetwood's eyes truly do light up when he talks about Orlando. He has seen him come so far he told me.

Fleetwood was an assistant at Cartersville when I was there. Really weird when I saw him in the commitment vid because we were never really that successful when he was there, unless he was there when Ronnie Brown was there over a decade ago.

A good buddy of mine went to Cartersville. I believe his dad was on the staff, Coach Payne ring a bell?

Actually I think so. Not quite sure though tbh, the staff changes a LOT because its not a place good coaches want to stay a long time at. I don't think he's there now though right? Maybe moved up?

“i came to the spring game, but that was really it (before saturday)[.] i only came for the fourth quarter, but i got to see a little bit of excitement.”

while brown has been interested in seeing how tennessee plays this season, he said the team’s performance won’t impact his commitment to the vols.

“i’m not going to say it makes a difference on me and my commitment level, but it’s always good to see your team winning,” said brown, who announced his commitment to tennessee on may 2. “but if they lost all 10 games, i still would be a tennessee vol.”

“everybody i’ve heard from, i’ve pretty much turned down,” brown said. “i’m not going to say it’s a lot of schools, but n.c. State (has expressed interest). I haven’t really had any calls, really, or anything — maybe just from oklahoma. But i’m 100 percent a vol.”

“we’ve got a lot of screens where i’m going out with the running back or for the receiver, or a lot of plays where i have to get to the linebacker on a screen, so i’m definitely moving a whole lot better. I’ve definitely lost a lot of weight, but i’ve gained a lot of strength and speed, i feel like,” he said.

“i’m at 340, but i want to at least get down to 330.”

Sort of. Barden stayed because he had a reason to. His sons. Most assistants come to C-Ville, have success, and move up. I also wouldn't doubt to see Barden move up at some point unless he has no desire to.

Supposedly he's getting pushed around by 5* Lorenzo Carter tonight. He's gonna need a redshirt year, good thing we have some talented (but unproven) OL for next year

"Supposedly"

What is your source. I'm not doubting this, but I'd like to see further confirmation.

Jorts & jorts & jorts, Gator troll

You caught me, good one

What I saw on twitter was Brown held his own but was getting pushed around. He's big, but he needs to get in the weight room and get stronger. So, I'm assuming he redshirts, which is fine because we have pretty decent depth on the OL.
