'14 GA OL Orlando Brown (Signed with Oklahoma)

There is a much higher chance of Brown being a potato than a special player. He was our weakest OL commit (not strength, but overall talent and skill).

It's possible this is about OU winning the media cycle more than any long term plans. As others have said, their recruiting has dropped off and a former commit to UT, from a player-rich recruiting ground in the state of Georgia, is something they can spin easily to their local media and some national media as stealing an SEC player from a hot school in terms of this recruiting cycle.

I really liked Brown and wish he'd have kept up his grades and gotten in. One of the national recruiting analysts (yesterday or maybe a few days ago) tweeted about him knowing this could happen with his grades and pretty much said he didn't do the work he should've. That tweet was a bit harsh, imo, especially given that he's still basically kid and comes across as a nice one at that.

Would rather have him here but whatever is going on I wish Orlando the best. Well except and unless he's playing us. :)

It's already on the ESPN signing day recap. They are claiming OU managed to flip TN's Orlando Brown at the last minute. They failed to mention anything about grades, qualifying, etc.

That's the problem with national media outlets. They don't have the time to research the entire picture when it isn't a high profile story. All they see is he was committed to Tennessee yesterday and signed with OU today.

Yep, same thing with the DE that Vandy "flipped" from Stanford. They didn't flip him, his ACT wasn't good enough to get into Stanford.

We could not afford a scholarship that would be wasted with a non qualifier.....every scholarship counts when you are climbing back up the mountain...

I read this on ESPN this morning, and thought it was hilarious. We sign the best class that we have signed in almost a decade and it may be the most impactful class we have signed ever, and all they can say about it is we had two commitments that flipped. Typical ESPN! Our class wasn't even mentioned in an article they wrote about winners and losers in this class. How does a program that has had 4 losing seasons in a row, sign the number five rated class in the country and not be considered in the category of winners? It is beyond me!
