'14 GA OL Orlando Brown (Signed with Oklahoma)

So how does he get into OK and not UT?

I think folks may be jumping the gun. Kids sign all the time and don't get in. Just because he signed, does not mean he is for sure a sooner YET. If his grades were so poor UT dropped him altogether and did not allow his grades to play out, they must be VERY bad IMO. Wait to see if he actually enrolls there.

Very, very odd. Will be interested to hear the story on this.

Part of me had wondered all along whether he fit Butch's system. I thought Butch wanted faster, smaller OL and this guy was huge.

Still, I really liked him and wanted him in Orange.

What has this staff got against minority O-linemen?
Sanders, Kendrick, Wiesman, Thomas, Raulerson. LOL
Brown, was far and above the most talented of this group.

Unfortunately, they could not afford the risk. A signed LOI counts against your numbers. Period.
Uh no Brown is not the best of the group.

....Dontavius Blair??

On Orlando Brown...

Just got a call about five minutes ago from someone in Oklahoma asking about Brown and saying they may sign him and I go to pack my stuff for Butch's PC and come back and he's signed.

As we said last night, Tennessee just couldn't sign him with his grades and while there was a plan in place to have him be placed somewhere.

He decided to go against that and went with the security Oklahoma offered.

A lot of strange vibes around his commitment the whole time.

Totally not true, you must be thinking of someone else. This guy has been one of the more vocal and unwavering kids the whole time and he committed early.

I'm probably mixing him up with Thomas. Lot of names spinning in my head today :)

Sometimes you have to trust the coaches, they've spent a lot of time and energy on this kid. Getting school work done is directly related to effort. Everyone says "grade issues"...maybe the issue is effort, or lack of.

It is really simple. The grass is greener on the other side for both him and UT. UT could not afford to "hold" a scholarship for him with players like Mike Sawyers knocking and Brown felt he had a chance to go to OU without having to spend another year building his academic portfolio. Win/Win.

For what it's worth the ou board is saying Tennessee wants Orlando to go to Juco and ou is saying he can go to prep school. Their board says that is why they think he has "fallen" into their lap.
