I think that's where some people that work in UT athletics are getting confused. DeerPark is pretty much never wrong, hell I can't think of a time he's had bad information. He said flat out Paulk was gone and would not be back playing period. Said there was absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the kid hit his girlfriend, said it occurred in front of another player and a couple of other student athletes. Jones is aware of all of this and Paulk's status will not change.

Sorry to bring bad news but I think he is done.

Problem is we're working off forum posters and what they've heard. Sure, some are more solid than others ie. Deerpark. It is still unsubstantiated rumor. One tell tale sign to me is the commitment of Sapp. Apparently he and Paulk know each other and maybe even fairly close friends. combine that with the fact that they pretty much let Bussey go without a fight tells me there is a decent chance of his return.

Folks are saying Butch was waiting till after NSD to disclose Paulk's return to make RB recruiting easier. Another possibility. What if they did it to sign Sapp and then after the LOI is in, Paulk isn't reinstated?

That would be sneaky for sure. I think for that to happen Butch would have had to totally mislead Paulk to give him the impression that he would be reinstated and frankly I don't see Butch straight up lying to the kid to get Sapp. That would be some serious bridge burning with Paulk, Sapp, and their former high school. I just don't see that as the case.

Meh, I couldn't see Jones telling Paulk that he could be back at some point. On the other hand, I could see him not telling Paulk that there is no way in hell that he will be allowed back. It sounds like in any case that UT athletics has done right by Paulk though to this point if they're making sure he stays academically eligible.

Id be flat out shocked if Paulk rejoins the team. Ive also been told the relationship between Paulk and Sapp has been way over exaggerated. I.e., they know each other but arent really friends.

For the record, my info on this is more my assumption mixed with a few '14 players telling me they think he will be back. Certainly not any set in stone info like I was gettin with drew and others.

after hearing Notorious I'm more inclined to go with what he believes considering he sees coach G on the reg.

In the end, we'll be alright

Right, there's a difference in thinking you can be an angel in recruiting and being low down cutthroat. As we have seen, Butch knows how to handle the hard stuff and knows what burns bridges. There's only one poster dumb enough to not understand that. But hey, he's just playing a role.

Liked Bussey better than Paulk and was really excited to get him-- ran downhill with a chip on his shoulder... we told him to blue or grey, so I would hope Paulk would be the reason or they think Kelly? Something has to give here, either way we need/needed Paulk or Bussey IMO.

Or Butch is actually looking at Bruce or Perry as a RB. Bruce did kind of mention it. RDAIV coming in for a year gives them options. IMO, more than enough with the current RB situation.
