^This^.... I don't wanna hear about non commitable offers, blah blah. We just went toe to toe with heavyweights and won out...straight up

Let us win a couple this year we are not suppose too and look out.Butch and staff have done an amazing job...

"The 4-star McDowell, who is also a star baseball player, said he will play both sports at Tennessee."

Anyone else find this interesting? Has he been offered a baseball scholly too or how is that gonna work?

I just asked myself the same question. Can he get a baseball scholarship and not a football scholarship so we have one extra for football? or if he doesn't get a football scholarship is he considered a walk-on? Anyone know how this works?

Has to be on football scholarship if plays football and any other sport.

If you play multiple collegiate sports and one of them is football you are required to use your football scholarship to prevent colleges from severely oversigning by getting multi-sport athletes.

My understanding is that a football scholarship trumps a baseball scholarship. In fact I do not believe that anyone is receiving full ride scholarships in baseball anymore.

I believe the FB Scholly trumps all others. IOW he will count against our football numbers but not our baseball numbers. If I am wrong someone will correct me. :hi:

JRM, McNeil, Kelly, McDowell. The safety position is looking awesome for the future.

this. And Randolph is just a RS Sophomore.were gonna have a hell of a rotation in years to come. a ton of talent right there. to get more speed on the field you could slide Mcdowell and JRM down to OLB with Bates on certain sets. this will be fun.so many options...

Thanks for the info fellas I was confused about how that was gonna work. Can wait to see McDowell crackin heads and crackin homers. Go vols

I can't help but be incredibly impressed by this staff so far. What a start. I just hope they can do the same on the field so these commits stick.

I'm pretty certain he will be the equivalent of a walk-on on the baseball team. When a player is a 2 sport athlete in college and one or both of the sports offer full scholarships, then the player will receive a scholarship from the sport that grosses the most money for the university. Keeps teams from loading up on, for example, football kickers on soccer scholarships and then saving those scholarships for more football players.

“I was committed already. I was a silent commit, so the anticipation of me standing up and going public with it was eating me alive, so I went ahead and made it public.”
