"Tennessee felt like home to me. I know I can spend the next four or five years great years there," McDowell texted Volquest.com Tuesday morning just after his commitment.
"I was able to spend more time with the coaches and it was pretty much a trip that I tried to just get away and I took my brother up to see the school," McDowell said. "That was his first time seeing Tennessee and that was for him to get a feel for the place and see how he liked it."
With his mother already accompanying him in the spring, McDowell said the Tennessee trip really stood out to his older sibling.
"He liked how everybody was friendly and how everyone will come up to you and shake your hand like they've known you for years so he just liked how everybody's character was," McDowell said.
"The coaching staff and their relationship, even though it's their first year, it seems like it's their fifth or sixth year together," McDowell said.
