'14 IL LB Clifton Garrett

he was 20 points from going 11-1 instead of 7-5. thats an average of five points per game. not bad considering the same team had gone an embarrassing 5-7 the year before.

Why are we talking about "He Who Must Not Be Named"?

Do u remember who was on his oline and who his qb was? He did a good job that season.

Kiffin deserves a lot of credit for Crompton's performance that season, but the 2009 had some decent talent. Dmo, Stocker, Hardesty, Williams, and EB all got drafted.

The line had the undersized walk-on twins in the middle, but I think McClendon was still on that team. He's bounced around NFL rosters, and Aaron Douglas was also really good.

Gerald Jones was a solid college player, as was Denis Rogan and Wes Brown. Add in some good freshman in Janzen and Brown - that team was more talented than any we've fielded in the last 5 years with the exception of arguably last year.

Spot on.

At the end of the day, wins and losses are all that matter. Kiffin went 7-6. He isn't a good coach. Last season, he took a preseason number one team that was loaded with talent and went 7-6

Don't get me wrong, I hate Kiffin just as much as anyone else. However, I don't think some people realize how much of an impact those scholarship reductions have had on that team.

They do have an impact, but I still only see two teams on their schedule last year that they would lose to if CPC was still there

If his dad wasn't his DC for all these years, I think he would have been more successful. That's still his responsibility though. But saying he isn't as good as Pete Carroll doesn't mean he is a bad coach.

I wasn't necessarily comparing him to CPC. That's just the example I used because he was there before Kiffin. There are several coaches who I think would take USC to a BCS bowl last year.

I wouldn't blame it on daddy. That Cowboys defense looks legit this year.

-Joliet (Ill.) Plainfield South five-star linebacker Clifton Garrett takes his official visit to Tennessee this weekend and as reported in the past, it sounds like the Vols have the best shot to perhaps make a move on LSU for the U.S. Army All-American’s services. Florida, Ole Miss and Oregon are the three other schools Garrett is still considering.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if we landed this kid---he's elite and would put an exclamation point on our linebacker corps for 2014. MouMou, D-Bates, Bryant, Weatherd, Dews---embarrassment of riches and we'd be good to go at LB for the next few years. You could move one or two of those guys to safety or DE.
