'14 IL LB Clifton Garrett

23 predictions to LSU on 247.

For reference, Gavin Bryant had all 7 predictions to Bama on 247. Daniel Helm had all 5 predictions to Michigan. Some bozo "Wisconsin Insider" changed his prediction to UT for Helm on the day he committed (so obviously, that BS doesn't count). To get to the point, I hope you are not basing this prediction on the 247 predictions.

247 has a lot of great information. They have the resources nationally to evaluate a ton of players. They stay on top of camps and combines as well as anyone. They also do a good job covering basketball, not just football. However, 247 has proven to suck monumentally at predicting college choices.

This. Those 247 predictions are a joke and mean nothing. They change those predictions constantly and they are really good at changing them a few days before a guy announces when they find out their predictions have been dead wrong all along to try and save face.

i wont consider it a long shot until after he visits. if he visits and we dont become his leader, then i might consider it a long shot.. but this kid hasnt visited at all yet and we are #2

Have you heard anything definitive regarding him visiting UT this summer? I know he's mentioned it, and he's also mentioned visiting UF when coming down to the South.

This is the latest info I could find on Garrett from 247:

LSU leads for the five-star prospect and nation’s top-ranked outside linebacker, however Tennessee and Florida could have a chance to surge during summer visits. USC and Ole Miss are also players for Garrett, who doesn’t plan on announcing until the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, however it wouldn’t be surprising to see him commit sooner than that. Les Miles and the Tigers are significantly out in front.

Tough to use Bryant as an example. If his grades were up to par, he would be going to bama. As kids commit daily, of course who is the next take for each school changes. Helm did not choose UT till after Michigan took their TE. 5 or 7 predictions is one thing. 20 or 30 speaks to a VERY good chance it plays out like they predict. Things change in recruiting daily. 247 is pretty accurate when 10-15 predictions all say the same thing.

The analysts knew his grades were in trouble. IMO, they shouldn't have made any predictions in that case. But, I see what you're saying.

If I had the time, I think I could give a few more, better examples, but I don't. We will have our answers in a few months.

Has Garrett ever set a date when he is going to visit? Hasn't he said he wants to make it in this summer?

IIRC, all he has said is that we are his #2 school and he's trying to get down here to visit. He also wants to visit UF if he comes down here. And yes, it would/will be in the summer.

that crystal ball ish is pathetic. THey don't know anymore than the regs on this board.

I pay attention to maybe 5-6 of the guys at 247 making predictions. If all of them say the same thing, it's usually going to play out that way.

My issue with 247 crystal ball is they let too many homers and randoms pick. Only pay attention to certain guys. Also recruiting can change like crazy day to day. Who the heck thought Tunsil would sign with ole miss. You never know what a school is willing to do to swing a kid

I have been getting a kick out of reading boards today with the pic out there of Reuben Foster and the red hummer. AU, UGA, USC, all the boards are going nuts over it. Funny thing is I have not seen one person ask if it is actually his or just a car sitting behind him in a driveway. Still great to watch the fallout.

“i talk to coach [will] muschamp and coach [d.j.] durkin and they both tell me they are really excited,” garrett said. “they sent my mom emails thanking her for letting me come down and visit, because i’ve been pretty busy this summer, so we finally got that visit worked out before i take my official there.

“they are really excited to get me down there on campus, we’ve been talking about me getting down there for a few months now. I’m finally getting a chance, so i’m excited to get this thing on the roll.”

“i know for sure i’m definitely taking an official [to florida], i’m just not sure when yet,” garrett explained. “i’ll be taking officials to tennessee, ole miss, usc and lsu as well.

“those five schools that i named all have really good defenses each year. Tennessee is on the rise back up to the top, they got a great recruiting class. I talk to those guys all the time.

Another one of those schools in garrett’s top five could get a visit later this summer.

“i haven’t worked it out, but tennessee, i’m trying to get up there with my dad.”

When talking about the schools in his top list, he mentions the tradition of good linebackers, especially UT, UF, and USCw.

Garrett is still at schools in the SEC, and LSU is his current leader. But another SEC school is making a strong push.

"It's a fight these days between Tennessee and Ole Miss, and Florida is in there too, but I'm liking Tennessee a lot these days," Garrett said.

When was this article written? It is really interesting to read articles from different sources and written by different people. It is extremely easy for the interviewer to pick and choose what he includes in the documentation of the interview. For example, the quotes I posted earlier today from 247 were from an article written by Luke Stampini, who works for the UF 247 site. Within that article, reading it in its entirety, you get a completely different vibe about his interest in UF. After reading it, I felt like I could say UF was easily the #2 school behind LSU. Plus, he's taking a UOV there before seeing Knoxville, which is much closer to him.
