'14 IL LB Clifton Garrett

When was this article written? It is really interesting to read articles from different sources and written by different people. It is extremely easy for the interviewer to pick and choose what he includes in the documentation of the interview. For example, the quotes I posted earlier today from 247 were from an article written by Luke Stampini, who works for the UF 247 site. Within that article, reading it in its entirety, you get a completely different vibe about his interest in UF. After reading it, I felt like I could say UF was easily the #2 school behind LSU. Plus, he's taking a UOV there before seeing Knoxville, which is much closer to him.

It was June 10th, I probably should have included the date.

I'll just add that I agree with your point I read the Stampini article, but the one I posted from the Chicago Tribune is from a guy that has no bias. It makes you think we have a much better chance to land this kid. The key thing is that we are getting a visit at some point and he is bringing his dad. You never know.

Rico McCoy is your all time favorite LB from UT? How long have you been following? Just wondering.

Definitely not one of the all-time greats but who could forget this..?

Was at that game right behind the play. Definitely one of my favorite tackles ever. That was an amazing play. Probably the best play of his career at UT.

Favorite and best are mutually exclusive.

Although I agree, I'm not sure how anyone who can remember the '98 season couldn't name Al as their favorite.

Pretty much my whole life. I just loved his style and aggressiveness. He was extremely underrated and underappreciated. I loved everything about his game

Yea I know, I was just curious if he was old enough to get the pleasure of watch Al play or not. Rico was a fun player to watch as well.

I gotcha and I agree that he was underrated while he was here. I just didn't know it you were old enough to get the pleasure of watch Mr. Al Wilson play for UT. He was an extremely aggressive player as well and absolutely punished people when he tackled them. He was a walking highlight reel at LB. He was so much fun to watch. Hoping Cecil Cherry can be that type of player for us a few years down the road (lofty wishing I know).

Mayo was really fun to watch as well. He didn't have as many punishing hits as Al but he read plays so well and seemed to be always around the ball and making plays. One of my favorites to watch at LB.

Oh I'm not saying he's better than Al Wilson because he's not. He's nowhere close to it. I watched Al Wilson back in the day too. I loved him at UT and when he was on the Broncos. I just like OLBs more than ILBs because they're more like safeties with some more meat. I played OLB so I just naturally like those guys the most.

Yea I played OLB in HS and like watching them play as well bc of the athleticism they bring. Hoping Bates jr can be that next athletic and fun OLB for us to watch :)

Stampini works for a gator site, but he isn't a "gator". He's usually pretty spot on/unbiased. Actually has been accused of costing uf recruits by gator recruiting homers.

It'll be interesting to see how garret's recruitment plays out. I've said before that for some reason I get a feeling ole miss is going to become heavily involved.

Mayo was nasty. One of my favorites was Darrin Miller from the 85 team.
