'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

Keith Niebuhr had this nugget on the Auburn board this morning:

9:07 a.m.: Source close to Auburn program says Tigers remain optimistic about Lambert. Cautiously optimistic, though

With as wildly optimistic as the AU writers usually are, I don't think they feel all that great about their chances.

I love you OV !! I would french kiss you if I could get to you!

(not responsible for what I just said due to being over excited and temporarily not in right mind)

All Vols don't meet with Gus Malzan if they're really all Vol. Notice our other JUCO recruits didn't. Malone and Hurd haven't been meeting with any other schools' coaches since they committed. I'd wager a good # of schools would have loved to have had one last meeting with Dontavious Blair, but didn't get in the door.

Acting like this was open and shut all along is dishonest. At best, Lambert thought he was Vol but wanted to meet with Auburn one last time to make sure. At worst, he signs with them.

You are kinda right, but Lambert has had a long history with Rodney Garner and out of respect and how close they are gave him one last pitch. If Garner isnt there I really doubt he meets with AU over the weekend. Garner could be the only guy that could flip him and still doubt he was able to do it, which tells me a lot about our staff and of course playing time. Lambert prob starts day 1 at UT, with all the guys AU rotates in and out on the line Lambert likely doesn't start, but who really knows. He could end up the best DLineman either team has. Think he stays true to his word and is all Vol.

Dangit I got Blair and Lambert mixed up and was thinking we had finally gotten rid of AU. I'm saving my boom now with fingers crossed.

The perspective with this entire thread just changed dramatically.

Tenn FB is a great thing but far far from what's important in this life!

God Bless!

No joy or pain in this thread today

Only thing that could make this impending announcement more forum gold is if he was committing on tv with that moron from NBC Sports so he could ask him for 10 minutes why he didn't commit to a school like Auburn who is playing in the National Championship game.

I think he would have at least decommitted and reopened his recruitment if he was really torn between the two.

Lambert will sign with the Vols because he wants to start from day1. At AU he will not. As a JUCO he needs to build his NFL draft resume quickly. I'm sure AU is throwing the glitter and flash at him based on them playing for the NC. But that will not help him in the draft.
