This was posted on Auburn board without source. I think it was a newspaper article.
Although Lambert's late switch to the Tigers didn't come as a complete surprise, it was undoubtedly a blow to the Vols' incoming group of defensive linemen.
At the very least, he was expected to be a major contributor for UT, and he likely projected as an immediate starter at either strongside defensive end or defensive tackle. And with Lambert no longer in the fold, the Vols will add only one junior-college prospect ? Williams ? to their rebuilding defensive line when spring-semester classes start on Jan. 8.
Lambert continued to indicate to Tennessee last week that he planned to stick with the Vols, but both UT and Auburn seemed to feel good about their chances over the final days leading up to the start of the early juco signing period. Even on Tuesday, the day before he signed with the Tigers, he seemed to be giving mixed signals, but he told several people that he was likely to sign with Tennessee.
By all accounts, Lambert went back and forth between the two schools Wednesday before finally settling on Auburn not long before his scheduled announcement.
There appears to be at least some truth to the rumors that began to circulate Thursday regarding Lambert's academic status. Both schools ? UT in particular ? were aware before he signed with Auburn last week that there was no guarantee he would be able to enroll at the college of his choice in January, and he apparently still has some work to do if he wants to join the Tigers next month.
If Lambert isn't able to make it to Auburn for the start of spring-semester classes, he might be forced to return to Georgia Military for another semester, which would void his signed National Letter of Intent and require him to sign again in February.
