First and foremost, we don't know if Weatherd will be eligible or ineligible. Jumping to conclusions one way or the other because of oblique social media statements and a lack of concrete information one way or the other is absurd.
Secondly, I hope Weatherd is declared eligible to suit up for Tennessee in the Fall of 2014 because a) we desperately need him, b) he chose UT over several other big time offers (including his mother's alma mater, Texas A&M), c) I don't really care about his JUCO GPA as long as he is eligible, and no one else should either, d) we don't know if he had personal issues or challenges that could explain a poor academic performance (assuming he even had a poor academic performance), and e) no one knows his academic background, the difficulty of Trinity Valley C.C.'s academic courses, whether he has any learning disabilities, etc., and speculating seems ridiculous, rude, and exhibits an overly intensive inquiry into a player's personal life.
From reading this thread, it appears that we have more Rhodes, Marshall, and Gates Scholars and Phi Beta Kappa members than all other fan bases combined. The spelling, grammar, and logical reasoning of most posters, however, calls that into serious doubt.
In sum, leave the kid alone. If he is eligible, all of the denigrating of his academic performance, intelligence, and work ethic will have, largely, been wrong if not also wildly inappropriate, and most of the posters, including the judgmental ones, will celebrate his eligibility. If he is ineligible, I'm sure he will be more disappointed than anyone and, even then, there could be, and likely are, good reasons for his ineligibility beyond character flaws that some posters seem to know so much about from limited to no information one way or the other. I, for one, am rooting for him to be eligible.
