The linebackers in today's game are mostly situational, so it is likely that they can get him up to speed.

He won't redshirt imo...would be kinda pointless to take a JUCO kid and not play them right away. He will contribute this year...how much depends on how quickly he gets up to speed.

At the very least, I think Weatherd will play as an edge rusher and backup to Maggitt. Doubt he sees much time as a LB though.

I think we'll see him at both spots. Mainly because we'll have to. That may just be passing downs to spell another LB, though.

Admittedly, I don't know enough about how the defense should work to know who would pop up in what situations... And none of us really know enough about Chris to know where he may fit.

I don't know what our sub packages and such will look like at all.

He'll be too behind on everything to be a big contributor. There's a huge chance he will redshirt. Personally, I would of given up on him if I was Jones.

I still think he's not getting in.

Outside of Weatherd, I can think of 4.

Sorry but you're wrong. He will contribute. We don't have the talent and depth to redshirt much of anyone yet...especially a talented JUCO LB like Weatherd.

I hope so, but he has to get in first. We won't run a guy on the field if he's not ready.

I agree we will be using LB's who are new on campus this season (either true freshmen or Juco) as we're short on experienced talent. However the coaching staff must really like the what we have or what's coming in to have moved Magitt to DE.

CBJ is clearly upgrading the recruiting such that in 3 years we may be flush with LB talent superior to CW and there wouldn't be a spot for him in the 85 man roster? Pure speculation as nobody knows how good CW may be until he gets on the field.

Don't we run a pretty simple defense that depends more on talented guys than complex reads? Butch's decision to EE mostly offensive guys is pretty indicative about where he feels the practice time is needed. Stands to reason that fall camp will get a sufficiently talented player to a functional level.

Think they will use CW primarily on special teams early on to get his feet wet. This is where our depth hurts. Allow our starters to?rest.

He will most likely be backup LB and get in on mop up duty when we are blowing out UF, UGA, etc. :)

Hope he progresses well to be playing significant time later on in the season.
