Taylor Lewan and Jake Matthews both came back for their senior years, and they were both projected to go top 10.

It's not rare at all for offensive tackles projected to go in the first round to return for their senior seasons.

To say that there's no chance or no reason for Tiny to return is ridiculous.

If anything, the fact that 2013 Draft was very OT heavy (5 out of 32 picks were OT alone and another 4 were G/C) and most analysts have Lewan, Matthews and probably Kouandijo ahead of him... he would probably be better suited to staying.

The 4th OT in the last 4 drafts was taken at:

23/25/41/11

The 2nd, in that time frame:

6/17/23/2

So, historically, the 4th OT on the board is a late 1st/early 2nd and the 2nd, for instance, is a early-midrounder.

If you haven't realized that VN doesn't always have info where you want it and less random discussion where you don't want it, then you need some help realizing that and maybe this post will open your eyes.

That or ignore us dunderheads discussion said topic

I am well aware that threads often veer off course but we ought to try to limit that some, if possible

Is there a reason someone can't start a new thread that addresses the pros and cons of OLineman leaving early?

Not really. This is the recruiting forum lol. Tiny going pro or not somewhat effects (affects?) Blair's recruitment. I just wouldn't open the thread often and sift through the crap the few times you do open it within the next few days. I do that in any thread involving ratings/stars and the crootin forum stickied thread.

I will admit that if there is one position on a college football field that has any real chance of returning to their college team for a senior season after already grading out as a high 1st round selection it would be an OL, but there have been string vibes around Tiny that this is his last year.

I would be endlessly happy with the thought of a Tiny - Jackson - Thomas(or whoever) - Wiesman - Blair OL. I just don't find it overly likely.

Tiny is not the strongest in the classroom. If he stays for his senior year it will be because of injury type situation where he misses time in games.

Tiny's the true definition of VFL. He's represented himself and our university right. If he stays it's because he loves Tennessee as much as we do.

He said someone was texting him that they had committed, and his phone malfunctioned and sent that message to someone else....

He's just wanting to announce on his time, my phone malfunctioned, yeah right

Honestly if I was 17-20 in that environment I would have wanted to commit to.

If we weather this storm and get him on campus, watch out.

Texas A&M is certainly in the race, but I think it comes down to Tennessee and Auburn in the end. He and his family have known Thigpen for probably three or four years now and that is helping Tennessee.

He'll visit here this November. Until then, I think there's going to be a lot of speculation out there. After that visit I think we'll know more of where he stands. Still too early.

New article on Rivals. Named top 3 of Auburn, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. This quote is telling and consistent with what Blair has said all along: "I'm just looking for playing time," Blair said. "Playing time is big to me because I'm a transfer. I need to be on the field, you know what I'm saying?" If we can get him on campus for an OV, I think he's a Vol because we have no backup LT.
