Back when he was an un-rated JUCO nobody, I looked at him and thought, “lanky, underdeveloped kid with potential to grow thicker. Jones & Company kind of kid. Probably a take. And he’ll probably be a 3-star.” Aaaand then he got rated. Yikes!

But yeah, he fits the profile. Lengthy. Athletic. Smallish. Getting his strength levels up will allow him to showcase some more in the run game. He’s more of a pass-blocker from the few minutes of tape I’ve seen.

Let’s just keep him from Saban, m’kay? This guy could be Tiny’s replacement.

Seems like we are in a great position here with him taking multiple unofficials.

Garden City Community College offensive lineman Dontavius Blair is scheduled to be back on campus Saturday and it will be the second visit to Tennessee for the Anniston, Ala., native and there's not doubt the Vols are certainly in this one.

Blair would be monumental. It would erase some question marks at OL and put us in good position for his teammate Tyreek Hill, too. I hope the coaching staff puts the full court press on. We need a JUCO OL badly.

"Right now, Tennessee is my top," Blair said. "When I came up the first time, I didn't get to see everything so today they took me to see the dorm rooms and all the academic stuff and that was big. That was the main thing. "They are rebuilding you know what I'm saying. Brick by brick and rise to the top. I love that and the opportunity to play quickly."

"I visited with big Tiny (Antonio Richardson) and he was letting me know how things were going. He just said if I came here I would have a fresh opportunity. Hearing that from him, playing my position that's bright."

In addition to visiting with the Vols All-American left tackle, Blair spent a large part of his day with offensive line coach Don Mahoney. "I love him man," Blair said of the Vols first year offensive line coach. "He's straight forward about everything. He is very real with you. We talk a lot."

"Everyone puts guys in the league, but here (the SEC) is where it's at," Blair said. "The competition. By playing in this league the NFL won't be saying well he didn't play against anybody."
