I mean, yeah, theyre up there, said Blair, who claims almost 20 scholarship offers to date. If I had a top two, theyre in my top two, basically.
Everything went great (Saturday), said Blair, whos ranked the nations No. 5 junior-college prospect and No. 4 JUCO offensive tackle in the 247Composite, which equally weighs prospect rankings and ratings from major recruiting media outlets.
They brought Tiny (rising junior offensive tackle Antonio Richardson) down, and they let him host me for a while big Tiny and he was just talking to me about how things are going and how Ive got a great opportunity to play my position. And with him saying that, I mean, hands down, sounds good to me.
Theyre just telling me Ive got a great opportunity to come in and start, said Blair, who will have three years to play his final two seasons of eligibility at the college of his choice.
Whether its left tackle or right tackle, Im down to play it.
I talked to everybody like, offensive and defensive staff. (Offensive line) coach (Don) Mahoney was around a lot, and I talked to Coach Jones. (Mahoney) was just telling me I can help his offensive line out a lot, and Ive got a great opportunity to come in and be a starter. (Jones) just told me not only that they want me, but they need me.
I went with my brother and daddy, he said. That was my brothers first time. My daddy came with me last time. They did (like it). They were just telling me, wherever I go, theyre behind me 100 percent. But they like this place a lot.
Probably by the beginning of next week, Ill be narrowing it down. Im going to do (a list of) eight, said Blair, whos planning to graduate from Garden City in December and be an early enrollee at the college of his choice.
Im going back to Kansas on July 7, and Im going to try to go ahead and set my officials as soon as I get back. Whenever I do my last official visit, Im going to go ahead and decide.
"When I came the first time, I didn't see everything. So, took a trip to the dorm rooms and academics that was big, that was the main thing," said Blair, who competes on the same Broncbuster roster that produced Tennessee cornerback Riyahd Jones.
"Right now, Tennessee, they're at my top," Blair said.
"If Tiny wound up leaving and how things are going and they were just saying, if I come here, I've got a special opportunity," Blair said. "Hearing from him by playing my position is bright."
"They're rebuilding. You know what I'm saying? Brick by brick. Rise to the top. I love that."
"I love him, man, I love him," Blair said of Mahoney. "He's straightforward about everything. He keeps it real with me."
Look for a midseason decision from Blair as he plans to enroll at the school of his choice in January.
-VolQuest.com.Blair has long been Tennessee's top priority among several offensive linemen in the junior college ranks. Blair visited the Vols back in the spring and was again in Knoxville in late June. After his visit to Rocky Top last month, Blair called Tennessee his leader. He's also been talking to Florida State as well as Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Blair hopes to return to Tennessee in the fall for an official visit, but could make a decision as early as August as he is a mid-term enrollee.
