"Notorious" who has "been to a dozen or so practices this year," you are so far off base and you are really showing how many practices you have REALLY been to. Did you actually watch the practice when you where there, if you were there? What were you doing there? Are you a VFL? The best 5 linemen are on the field right now! Otherwise, why would they be playing? Haven't you watched them move guys out of the way? Wake up and watch the game - watch how on some plays that we ran they stacked box in the defense. I believe when know-it-alls get on here and "Notoriously" make their 42 posts as you have, it does nothing but show why an ESPN commentator doesn't like some folks who act like they are TN fans. Or maybe you are not. P.S. All 5 guys are "SEC Caliber" because THEY ARE SEC LINEMEN, Starting for an SEC team and have been selected as the best 5 over other SEC linemen on the team.

Blue font....right???

Wow a lot of SEC level coaches in this thread. Do any of you really think you know more about Blair, our scheme or what works than CBJ?

Since I've only posted 42 times you can easily go back and look at my history. I told people months ago that Weatherd was in because I had first hand knowledge. I even posted a text from him. I told the board the night before Oliver committed that he had. Same with Bouleware. Same with Woods getting pulled and Banks. Maybe, just maybe, I know what I'm talking about.

And had it not been for the Gilliam injury, you'd be seeing Kerbyson at center and not Crowder or Wiseman. Kyler is playing out of position at RT because he had to. Because you do put your best 5 out there. Unfortunately Blair isn't one of those 5.

But hey what do I know.

He is legit

ok, so what you're saying is that Blair is physically ready but can't pick up the scheme. then that's telling me, change the damn scheme. obviously it is not working. if a kid is physically-ready, you find a way to get him on the field. best 5. screw leaders or upperclassmen. if it takes putting a simple blocking scheme and 4 freshman to do so, you do it!

So is Dontavius your older or younger brother?

I have some friends who are very closely engaged in UT sports. I receive no info on recruits, but I do get info on our players and our coaches. I don't share this info on here because of people like yourself. All I have to say to you is this, everything Notorious just stated I have also heard. He is dead on with his info, as usual.

I have heard time and time again that Kerbs is a very, very good RG but is playing completely out of position at RT. I know our staff loves Wiesman and wants to integrate him into the starting line up. I also heard that Thomas needs a few more weeks, but by mid-season he'll be the LT because of his ability to move his feet so quickly. People need to understand that Thomas played C in high school. He's having to adjust to the T positions. I also know Kendrick got the start at LT only because he had at least played it in high school before, and our staff didn't want to throw Thomas out there.

I have not heard who they want to play C for the long haul. I'd guess Wiesman on the sole fact that I have heard Kebrs looks really good at RG. Notorious probably has better info here.

My guess would be that if we don't land Richmond we will probably target and try to sign more then just one OL. We may even go after a true C prospect if they don't feel good about the progression of Wiesman/Kerbs? I also expect Sapp, Martin, Phillips, Shy, and maybe some new OL prospects to be gone after full force. I believe those guys are very high on our boards.

Thanks for the info, man. I actually looked back on your post history a while back, because I remembered some of these posts that you mentioned. Keep bringing the goods because many of us appreciate it.

Speaking of the goods, do you have anything on Richmond for us? This would be great...:)

Many of us appreciate the information, so feel free to give it. So, do the coaches want to move Kerbyson back to RG? If so, who will play RT? Kendrick?

I don't get a chance to see practice live so Notorious may have better info here. I simply receive all my info from older gentlemen who "provide" greatly to the Vol program. All I have heard, is that Wiesman is a favorite of our coaching staff, so they put him a C so he can play now. He's naturally a G, so it's taking him some time. Kerbs IMO can't move. Robertson is holding his own right now, and it's the left side of our o-line that needs helps. Jackson draws two defenders a lot, and it's because Kendrick and Crowder are struggling. If I'm this staff, my goal is to find a RT by 2015. I believe that guy is Richmond. I believe they truly want Thomas at LT and always have, but I think they felt Blair would take over the LT spot once he got in shape but failed to do so. Otherwise, I think Thomas would have started camp at LT and not RT. If Richmond came here, I believe Kerbs moves inside to RG and Robertson RS for depth reasons just like Jackson. I believe Blair and Kendrick play the back up T positions, and I have stated all along from the video and info I have received that Blair is a RT all the way. I'm going to hold firm on my stance with Blair into proven otherwise, and I still hold out hope that he can move to RT and produce for us.

So ideally how does the starting 5 and rotation settle out and how would everyone rank our lineman say 1-9?

Thomas and Kendrick at the Tackles backed up by Kerbyson and Blair?

Two of Kerbyson, Robertson and Jackson at Guard backed up by whoever doesn't start and Austin Sanders?

Wiesman at Center backed up by Crowder?

Thinking of the future and play right now I would rank them as follows

Robertson
Thomas
Kerbyson
Jackson
Kendrick
Wiesman
Crowder
Sanders
Blair

Am I way off on this? Seems like there are a lot of informed opinions (mine not included) on the OL from a lot of posters

How did your brother enjoy his first start as the LT for the Vols? Very proud of him! :salute:

It's a big adjustment from high school. Since he didn't play last year it's all happening really fast. The staff has told us that within the last few weeks something has "clicked" with him, but I think it's going to take him some time to fully get up to speed (which is going to be tough with our schedule). I know he feels bad for Gilliam but he's excited to have the opportunity.

Good for him and your whole family!

I'm a Crowder fan so biased but... I Tivo'd the 2nd half due to work and I didn't see Mack miss a block. Period. I don't get some of the grief. I know just a little more than the average oline football junkie. .. Maybe the 1st half was different ... Every snap looked good. I don't know who would've graded out better.

If that happens, it means Mahoney is either a bad evaluator or bad developer. Would be an embarrassment and probably hurt recruiting in the future somewhat.

That's a little ridiculous factoring in the offers he had. I don't think Mahoney is that bad in developing, he has done it well with others at different schools. Maybe he just doesn't have the mental makeup they thought he did

I thought it was mentioned that Blair came in badly out of shape, therefore instead of learning and being developed, he was spending time trying to get in football shape. If that is true, I put this on Blair's shoulders.

Instead of learning he was getting in shape? You can't learn and get in shape at the same time?

"Top JUCO OT in the country goes to UT and redshirts... Is that what you want to happen to you?" That will be the recruiting pitch of every other SEC coach.
