'14 JUCO TX WR Kameel Jackson (UT walk-on)

Wow. This is just ridiculous.

Just when you think about the fact that we will have:

1. Josh Malone - 5*
2. Marquez North - 4*
3. Kameel Jackson - 4*
4. Lavon Pearson - 4*
5. Jason Croom - 4*
6. Pig Howard - 4*

7. Vic Wharton - 4*
8. Drae Bowles - 4*
9. Preston Williams - 5* (next year)
10. Van Jefferson - 4* (Hopefully)

Plus players like Josh Smith, Ryan Jenkins (if he ever gets healthy)...it's just incredible the depth and talent we have at receiver. It feels wrong.

bolded are the players who had any significant time on the field wow

Yep, heard Azzani interviewed this morning and you can tell he is VERY pleased and confident with this group. The depth allows them to groom the young players and work them in, as opposed to forcing them into action unprepared. He said North was asked to do way too much last year, but will be better for it this year. Expect Malone to be a lot like Hunter his freshman year. They'll have some plays scripted for him based on his athletic ability.
And you think a player like Drae Bowles is all but forgotten on this roster. Wouldn't be surprised if he kicks it in to gear if healthy. UT should be able to stretch the D and wear out DBs opening up some big plays. With that depth I'd be running at least one WR deep on every play, shuttling in fresh legs to do the same until the DB just gives out.

I think UGA is the team to beat in the east. If Mason adjusts quickly and they don't stumble in those first to games, they are a dark horse national title contender IMO.

You could probably be right but I just wasn't too impressed with Mason after he took over for Murray.

As much as I didn't like him, Murray was a tough SOB, has been the heart of that team for the past 3 years and you can't replace the intangibles he brought to the table. He was the only reason that Georgia stayed afloat last year when Gurley and Marshall went down. UGA fans better hope those guys can stay healthy this year because I don't see Mason willing that team to victories like Murray did. JMO

I'm sure you have a point here.

Maybe........Look at all the talent we have at WR, and three of those are 4*'s who have already seen a significant amount of playing time?

Yeah. That's what Im going with. Otherwise...........

Nothing feels wrong about it. Nothing.

What didn't you like about Aaron Murray? As a player, person? Was it his Guido hair style?

How do you put Drae Bowles in the list and honorably mention Josh Smith who actually beat him out and has some production? That's not to say i wasn't extremely disappointed in Josh sir-drops-a-lot Smith, but Drae Bowles is just MIA. Good, no, great kid, but just something is amiss with him on the football field.

I must have been under a rock or overlooked that completely. My mistake. But there was still never anything encouraging about his potential on the field though.

Still just a RS Soph. He's got opportunity. I just hope he makes the most of it. He's from my neck of the woods.

Agreed. I'm hoping for the best too. From his commitment video, I was excited to see how excited he was to be a VOL. His teammates love him and that matters. Didn't mean to sound condescending toward Bowles. From all accounts, Josh Smith will play a lot again this year... that's all i was getting at. :hi:

I didn't like him because he played for Georgia but I respected the hell out of him.

That was assumed! Haha! Just thought there was something about him personally that made you dislike him that i hadn't seen. Like my disdain for David Pollack, A.J. McCarron, and those of that ilk. But yea, Murray has my respect.

Obviously, our OL is suspect. I expect this staff to play to our strengths this year on offense. We have...

- A senior quarterback with a good (not great) arm
- A stable of big talented receivers
- Talent and experience at RB
- Young but talented TEs

I see a whole lot of short, quick passes that minimize the time our line has to block, the distance our QB has to throw, and that will manufacture space to let our playmakers work. I also see lots of misdirection and play action to neutralize our disadvantage on the line and create holes for our RBs.

I truly believe we'll be way better on offense than many people think. It ALL depends on our level of QB play. Everything starts there. I believe Worley will make a huge leap this year.

Yeah, I hated Pollack back in the day and I can't stand anything about McCarron. Murray was one of the toughest QBs I've seen in my life, especially for a relatively small QB. I've seen him take some hellacious beatings in his time and he would just always pop back up, rebuckle his chinstrap and stand in the pocket for as long as it took on the next play.
