'14 KY DT Matt Elam

We are not even in the kids top 4. Better to just move along IMO.

And? We are not in his top 4 because we haven't made an effort. Highschool DT is a major priority now even with Mosley already committed. I understand he is a long shot, but still worth a try.

Don't want. We have Mosley. If we get another DT, I doubt he will weigh over 320
You can never go wrong having two wooly Mastodons in the center of the DL. Teams will HAVE to try and run outside the tackle with those two anchoring the middle.

Or they could get pushed back into the LBs creating more room to run. Being big is only a benefit if they're strong too. Well, stronger than the OL they're facing.

Still don't understand why so many on here are so impressed by Elam.

Bc he's a beast in the middle. He's very strong and much more athletic than you'd think by looking at him. There's a reason why he's the most coveted DT by Saban since he's been at Alabama and that's saying a lot! (That's the rumor at least)

You know how every year, a new product that is newest and greatest is here. Every year, there is that newest and greatest product. This is a marketing shtick. I think its meaningless and aimless sunshine pumping.

There's no need to reach for a DT just to try to fill a hole that Lambert left. He would just end up riding the pine when we get 2015 DL in.

And he lives in Nashville. Bandwagon fan at its finest.

Watch it, Swanson...

lol

I'm actually from Nashville. I was just saying he likes Bama and UK and lives in Nashville. That's a common bandwagon fan in Nashville, IMO. I think a big reason is because Nashville has grown so much that many people aren't from TN.

We had McCullers and didn't stop many teams from running over, through, and around us in the middle. Size means nothing if you just stand up and wear roller skates--like big dan.....sometimes size is summed up in this statement:

Big like tarzan--STILL plays like Jane.....

:salute:

If you look at the roster for the 98 national champion team, you will see that our heaviest defensive lineman was only 281. We had faster more athletic DL. No need to get people to plug holes or create doubleteams. We need fast and athletic every down kind of guys.

LOL, there's no doubt that's true.

It's sad to see so many different teams around town nowadays. We're almost like ATL--one centralized location for every team's fan base.

When 102.5 became Alabama's flagship station, they were removed from my radio preset...not that I would listen to Plaster anymore, anyway.

I agree that the influx of population has brought with it fans of other teams. Couple that with basically a decade-long drought from any semblance of competitiveness from UT...you get a melting pot of fandom in Nashville.

You could very well be right about that. Just relaying what I've read on some other sites.

Not sure why his thread keeps being brought back up. The staff has never been that high on him.

I know they weren't very high on him at first but I thought that had changed after they reevaluated him and decided to offer. Is that not the case anymore?

I think the "offer" basically came around the time when they still didnt have many Dline commits. It doesnt seem like they really pursued him even after the offer.
