'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

You exactly right but im not annoyed, we don't carry things like that where we from, especially with kids, thats all im saying but like i said earlier he not bothered by it, i also mentioned i like the passion they have for there program, but man, when is enough enough, maybe i will understand how some of you guys operate in the next couple years i appreciate the heads up though!

The young man has plenty of time to silence doubters. Many of us are thrilled and can't wait to see him playing on Saturdays.

What name did i call him or her because i dont know what gender he or she is, secondly when is enough enough about who some of you guys want or dont't want, it has been made clear by some of you that you dont want him , thats cool, we can deal with that but damn, a 43 page thread mostly about someone some of you clearly dont want is a bit much, say you dont want and keep it moving, why keep coming back and saying the same stuff, get over it, and move on or at least until he misses a tackle or drops an interception,, or blows coverage, and then fire at will! Some of yall forget yall dealing with children that read this stuff, and god forbid a parent of one of these kids you covet so much read this and decide not to send there kid here based upon some reckless fans behind computers for their treatment of children. Let the man turn 18 and fire away!

I would say that the majority of posters are happy to have him as a Vol. The people you are referring to are the same blow hards that spew garbage all the time under the pretense of "it's my opinion and this is a message board". Those of us that are clear thinking adults actually know better than to say the things that they do, whether we agree with them or not.

An adult really should know that opinions sometimes needs to be kept quiet, or at least toned down, if you feel it that neccesary to give it. This is clearly a thought that escapes a few of our fans/posters.

Personally......I'm glad to have him aboard and hope he makes these folks that don't think before they type look really stupid soon.

I have really come around. Athlete earned his offer the hardest way by being an unknown at camp. Really pumped to have him as a Vol!

I'm generally just a lurker, but of everything I've seen you post I don't think I've liked or agreed with you. Poor kid, regardless if hes a greyshirt or walk on what should be one of the best days of his life he has to put up with people telling him he's not good enough.

Well Rooster, hopefully the kid is grounded enough to, if he reads these posts, accept the encouragement of those who support him, and have the motivation to read the negative crap and silence the doubters.

Since the News Sentinel's sports page said nothing about him today, I am wondering what is going on at this point. Wait and see, I guess. Personally, I don't care what Rivals thinks, because the number of stars next to a kid's name means nothing once he starts training. Though I do not know this kid, I only know what I have seen from the game footage. And if by the grace of God I am able to watch this kid play at Tennessee one day, i hope he realizes one old fart in the stands that he doesn't know will not be surprised when he makes big plays. Go get em, Jerome. Go Vols. And to those who wish to berate my statement, let me get ahead of you...:finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3:

Don't take it to heart. There are gonna be fans at every school that don't think very clearly. With that being said, for the most part, Vol Nation is happy to have Jerome in the Vol family! I think he'll do just fine during his time in Knoxville.

Watching his film he is extremely explosive off the ball but it seems as if he shys away from contact at the point of attack. But he has a few years and pounds to work on that.

Could be because of his current coaching. "Don't lead with your helmet" Back in my day it was "When you take on the runner, lower your head for the BOOM and wrap up"

Welcome abroad Mr. Dews! Keep working hard in the classroom, weight room, football field and in your community (current and future) and great things will continue to come your way. Know that when you suit up in the Orange and White we will all be cheering for you!

Any kid who shines this brightly at camp when he's competing against kids who are a year or more older than him (and yes those few months matter at this age) is a potential star in the making. Jones and his staff are well known for judging talent and it looks like they've found a good one.

THIS. Welcome dewmeister

"They didn't know nothing about me — literally, nothing," Dews told InsideTennessee.

When exactly he's part of the Vols' 85-man roster and running onto Shields-Watkins Field donning the orange is up in the air but he fully well plans to be at Tennessee.

"Yes, but I'm going to take all my officials though," said Dews, who hopes to see Clemson, James Madison, Ohio State and South Carolina.

"I went down to the camp. My coach had told coach Thig to look out for me," Dews said. "I went down to the camp and performed real good, very well in everything I did —*drills, 40, 1-on-1s. In 1-on-1s, I played receiver and linebacker. The only one who caught a pass on me was*Daniel Helm. I had three interceptions.

"On offense, couldn't no one check me. The dude that smoked out that ran a 4.3, I cooked him on a back-shoulder fade and snagged the ball from him. After I did that, the head coach ran up to me and was like, 'You better not leave this camp without trying to talk to me.' And, I ran across and talked to him. He was like, 'You're a very good player.' And, he really liked me and was 98 percent sure to giving me a scholarship. And, he was like, 'Give me two days to watch my film and we should go from there.'"

"Man, I can talk to him about any and everything," Dews said of Thigpen. "He's just a great dude. I know when I arrive I will have almost like a father to me on campus. Yeah, I can talk to him about any and everything and he seems like he wouldn't mind."

"I really like coach Butch Jones, too. It's not common to get such a good connection with a head coach you've only known for a week and a day."

"I just know they did say they're losing some linebackers and they're really in need of some linebackers," Dews said.

"D'Andre Payne, we're real close friends. So, whenever he'll be there, I'll be there," said Dews, who resides in Oxon Hill, Md., about 12 miles from Washington, D.C.

Do schools usually pay for OVs when they havent offered the kid?

All fan bases will question every move, no matter what team. People get concerned over offers, its natural. I hope the kid goes all out and destroys qb's for us, but dont act like UT has the only fanbase that questions the coaches decisions when it comes to recruits. It's part of the process.
