'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

MDObserver, you might have already addressed this but is the staff wanting Jerome as a LB, DE or did they really discuss WR like an article once said?

something like 67 tackles and 21 sacks, give or take a few tackles but he had 21 sacks

Wow.. That many sacks? Must want it bad. Like the difference between a decent and a great rebounder in bb.. The want to is 90% of the battle

Here is the breakdown, he will most likely Grey-shirt, due to his age and size given he just turned 17 last week, in my opinion, i don't know where they want him to play, that's partly why i think the grey shirt was offered, they don't know if he will end up being 6'7 or stay 6'4, they don't know if he may put on 30lbs or 10'lbs, so i think they need a little more time to evaluate, given that he may go prep till Dec and enroll in Jan.

So the grey shirt speculation was correct? Thanks for the info. :hi:

Woa!

Weren't you the one saying it wasn't a grey shirt???

Grey shirts not a bad idea anyway. Instead of redshirting Jerome can eat as much as possible and work out for a few months at home, waiting a semester before being an EE in '15 class. He'll then get 8 more months of weight training in the program and ready to contribute in the fall without having to redshirt.

It's gonna be great having speed on defense.

He will most likely go to Prep School for the 4 months we don't want him to get complacent at home, we want to keep the motor going!

If MD is who we think he is then all those posters claiming the staff tells these kids the deal on the front are proven wrong here.

He strongly emphasized this was an unconditional scholarship and now admits its changed to a grey shirt.

Very pleased the kid and family is willing to do this to be a VFL.

His devotion to our program is clearly noted and will be a favorite of mine when he gets here

Even better idea!

Word of advice, don't bother responding to Bruin, he's going to argue semantics and partial facts til the cows come home, it's maddening. I'd just ignore him if I were you.

Not worried about that fella, Jerome is content with whats going on, he 100% Vol and loves the staff, and will work extremely hard to be apart and stay part of the Vols family!

And for that attitude the kid deserves to be treated like royalty!

Hats off to the kid and family
